Gone With The Wind

My older sister told the story of when she was in Junior High, she stayed up all night reading Gone With The Wind. She told Mom what had happened in the morning. Mom let her stay home from school and sleep. She was especially sympathetic, as she revealed that she did the same thing when she was a kid.

There seems to be a Gone With The Wind gene in my family, as I have a cousin who was named Tara long before it became an acceptable name. But, for whatever reason, it wasn’t activated in me.

As for the story, I watched the movie, and was underwhelmed. There was a love triangle, which was of little interest to me. The dynamic between the Confederacy and the Union was much more compelling. My sister was especially impressed by how Scarlet was at a low point and pulled herself through, being strong and independent and stuff. I was thinking that she deserved to be laid low, as she was an entitled brat.

So apparently which types of chromosomes that you have are more telling than what genes you inherit.

It’s pretty voluminous. About a thousand pages.
One of the few books I actually bought an heirloom quality hardcover edition.
I’ve probably read it three times, but it has been a long while.
    It picks up pretty fast.

I’ll stick with Red Dawn – THAT’S a love story.

When Mattie his little brother is wounded and dying in Jed’s arms – that’s about as close as I come to crying during a movie.

Mitchell wrote Gone with the Wind about 60 something years after the civil war. It was about as close to her as WWII is for us (the book was published 70 years after.
It was the most sympathetic portrayal of the south I’ve ever read.

Again, it has been a while but it didn’t read like a love triangle story to me.
    There was complicated character development.
Scarlet wasn’t a heroine in the story, she was a complex character.
The real heroine (as far as being a great lady) was Melanie.
Shogun (another excellent novel) too could qualify as a love story…but it wasn’t.

The movie wasn’t so great but the graphic novel The Crow by James O’Barr was a great love story. He kills all the scumbag mother-f-ers that murdered his girlfriend and then he gets to be with her forever. Loved her so much he rose from the grave to avenge her. Not very Christian though.

I read The Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was a lad. I did identify with Claude Frollo, not because I liked him but because I suspected early on that Victor Hugo would not let him win. The tyranny of the writer. A bit like the MSM of today and Rapinoe, except that her narrative didn’t work out in the Olympics. Bwahahaha (I’m still sobbing in sympathy with that one).

The epidemic of “mandatory” suggests that rather than becoming more flexible and adaptive before an endemic disease, the experts are hanging on to the mantle of certitude. Slate sadly concludes: “Noble lies are a trap. We cannot predict the public’s behavior, and loss of trust is devastating. The general population is far too skeptical to blindly follow the advice of experts, and far too intelligent to be easily duped.” True. And that loss of trust is how we arrived at mandatory.

Gone With the Wind is pretty Red Pill. Rhett Butler is an alpha fux – a walking talking Red Pill. Ashley is an alpha bux in the context of the time period. Rhett tingles Scarlett; but he’s a rake who isn’t accepted in the “polite” society she’s accustomed to running in. Ashley is pretty much everything – dashing and respectable.

Scarlett is the quintessential strong independent bitch – headstrong, stubborn, duplicitous, mendacious, steamrolls anyone she views as beneath her, will readily use anyone she believes will serve her purposes, and annoying as fuck. Her good qualities are her perseverance, steely resolve, resourcefulness, and intelligence. Scarlett is always two steps ahead of everyone else except Rhett, who sees right through her.

Of course, everything in the movie is denigrated as not reflecting real life. The red pill opponent refrain is always that we can’t use fiction to illustrate red pill concepts. It’s made up, it’s fiction, so it has no relationship to “real life”, we’re told.

We can all sleep better tonight. The Los Angeles Times reported Monday on the July 29 arrest of Glen Allen Brooks, 61, of Huntington Beach, Calif. His crime? Brace yourself, gentle reader, for Mr. Brooks has been identified as a participant in the Jan. 6 “insurrection” at the United States Capitol. Imagine, he’s been on the loose all these months, no doubt insurrecting to beat the band the whole time.

Mr. Brooks’s alleged misdeeds are detailed in an FBI affidavit, in which a special agent (whose name is for some reason redacted) says that on Jan. 6, at 3:13 p.m., Brooks “entered the Senate side of the U.S. Capitol by climbing through a broken window near the Senate Wing Door.” The affidavit goes on to say Brooks left the Capitol at 3:30 p.m.

And how did this dangerous insurrectionist spend those intervening 17 minutes? Did he menace any House or Senate member? Did he assault any police officers, destroy or steal any property? Did he go off in search of Vice President Pence, perhaps to cajole him into invalidating the electoral vote?

He did none of these things. He took some pictures. Photographs included in the affidavit purport to show Brooks using his cell phone to snap pictures, all in the presence of a dozen or more uniformed police officers,

Deti is spot on. “Gone With the Wind is pretty Red Pill. Rhett Butler is an alpha fux – a walking talking Red Pill. Ashley is an alpha bux in the context of the time period.”

There is a scene with Rhett and Scarlett where Rhett goes through about half the RP attraction strategies. Rhett is most definitely and Alpha fux, Scarlett can barely maintain her composure and he sees right through her games. If you search for “Gone with the Wind – You Need Kissing Badly” the scene will come up.

There are many movies that when viewed through a red pill lens get way more interesting. I have appreciated much more just how well some of the writers and directors did in depicting male and female nature.

He mentions at the outset that psychics were one of the areas he turned to. It is understandable that he did. When people are stricken with grief they will turn anywhere for answers. However, IMO psychics are not a good place to turn. The rest of his approach is excellent. After a loved one commits suicide, peace of mind can’t be reached, but he has done the best he can.
