Democracy or Monarchy?

By “monarch” I don’t mean mere figureheads. I mean monarch who rules. I’m not an expert, but I doubt the monarchy has been more powerful than parliament since the civil war (1642-1648).

Democracy works okay as long as it does not deviate from certain prerequisites for its own survival: supremacy of the Legislature, an independent Judiciary, the rule of law and due process, and separation of the powers. I will call these prerequisites the Principles here. IMO when a democracy ceases to practise the Principles, it is no longer a democracy.

Crime and foreign forces could not overwhelm the Principles. The Principles’ weakness proved to be their helplessness against home-grown ideology. A “liberal” anti-Principles mindset infiltrated and took over education and the media.

A few generations later, the Left have turned the law courts into an extension of party politics. The Executive is by-passing the Legislature. The separation of the powers is being openly flouted. The Judiciary is shamelessly exercising administrative functions. The rule of law is withering on the vine.

The so-called opposition parties (Conservatives, Republicans etc) which are increasingly woke, have participated in the destruction.

The Leftards could not have destroyed the Principles had they not taken over the media. The New York Times (the so-called “Paper of Record”), CNN, Facebook etc are as disinformative and partisan as Pravda in the 1920s. The MSM have corrupted every aspect of themselves that might have had credibility, including the much-vaunted “Fourth Estate”.

The nations of the West, having lost the separation of powers and the rule of law, are faux democracies. Monarchy is not much better than this but nor is it much worse.

Is democracy doomed to slide into ideological tyranny? The tyranny might turn out to be Fascism or Communism, but neither of those is the force that tore down the Principles. It took something closer to the survival of the species to do that, such as self-hate so strong, it incited racism against itself. No species ever survived by turning against itself at all, let alone at procreation level. I fear that something that deep, that extreme, in enough of the men as well as the women in the white race at least, is set to repeat.

Feminism, with its wedge between the sexes and overt enmity toward the straight white male, has been the leader – or perhaps useful idiot – of the host of bigots and ingrates who long to tear down the West. Democracies destroy themselves inside the gates, inside the home, inside the head.

  1. Do these self-destructive ideologies arise only in “democracies”?
  2. The Left are the elite. Plenty of them would just love to be the monarch and I bet some of them right now are carefully cultivating a regal tilt to their heads the way Lord Muck Obama did. They have the woke cred, the activisits, the money and vanity to burn. Why not a leftist monarchy?
  3. Democracy being more self-destructive than monarchy, is it worth pining for a return of the Principles when they would probably be followed by another collapse?
  4. Can democracy bring us closer to freedom than any other system?
  5. Which is the lesser of two evils here: the tyranny of monarchal rule or the self-destructive violence of a broken democracy?

The problem is that Democracy is always leftist in that it prioritizes mob rule over individual rights. What I’d like to see again is a representative republic. But that would take, at a minimum in the US, amending the constitution to remove the income tax and the popular vote for senators (#s 16 and 17). Income tax means that your labor is not really yours. It’s someone else’s to figure out how much you get to keep. The popular vote for senators further eroded the power of statehood (the biggest blow being Lincoln fighting to keep the South from seceding). It used to be that the state could determine how to appoint senators because the Senate was the state’s representation at the federal level (the House being the people’s representation and the executive branch being the fed’s representation) so the senators had more incentive to do what the state legislator or governor told them to do. Right now, states get rolled by the feds all the time because the feds print the money.

What the question is really asking is what is the best way to provide the minimum level of government to prevent anarchy? The reality being the government is inherently corrupt, so the only way to minimize corruption is to minimize government and keep most of the government at the local level where it is easier for citizens to interact with their local reps.

The Principles can only be governing when a man can feed and clothe his wife and children. At its most basic, a man can feed and clothe his wife and children only when he is allowed to own and control sufficient land. In any other setup, the Principles wither in the face of the boss, for the employee no longer has a direct connection between his labor and his gain. When the middle-man takes his cut, Principles take a back seat to pragmatism: how must I behave in order to keep more of the gains of my labor? A self-serving attitude and approach to living that comes to the foreground on a massive scale. Squabbles will naturally result.

If we are not going to make it possible for the working man to leave the city and go back to the land (which we really cannot do – not enough good land), that means what he gets is always at the mercy of someone else, rather than a direct result of his own industriousness. With pragmatism taking the place of the Principles, the enlightened despot probably is a better solution than a democracy – as the despot can enforce order in ways that the democratic mob will not. And how can one have crumpets and tea without order?

If you mean everybody-votes democracy then yes. First the people start voting themselves free lunches out of the public treasury. Once everybody is doing there, the result is gridlock, austerity and such until a politician emerges with enough power to force reforms upon the system. Which always re-form the system into something he controls.

Democracy is always a transition state to tyranny.

The better system is one in which the people who pay the taxes are the people who make the rules. They can’t loot themselves, you see, so the democracy death spiral doesn’t form. Other restrictions on voting privilege such as men-only and age minimums are good, too. But then you have rules that must be followed no matter what the voting is, so you have a republic not a democracy.

What we’re seeing today with calls for monarchy is people getting tired of the waiting and wanting a strongman of their preference to show up, so they can back him to an early victory. Then they can enjoy the gibs that Strongman inevitably cuts out of the losers’ backsides to repay his early backers with.

There was a time when no-one but ratepayers were entitled to vote in local government elections (the voting for Mayor and town council etc). In those days borough councils, town councils, district councils and city councils used to balance their books as at 31st March each year. The Out column did not exceed the In column and all was accounted for.

Nowadays all residents have the vote in local govt elections, whether they are footing the bill or not, and local govt (borough councils, town councils, district councils and city councils etc) compete with central govt in over-spending.

  19. Do political parties actually mean anything anymore? Maybe in other counties there are parties that actually stand for things their voters say they want, that tat ain’t the case ’round here.

As Zman says, “We didn’t vote for any of this.”, and he means the big middle where most GOP and historic Dem voters reside, but the party leaders don’t actually give a shit what the voters want. They just do whatever the donor class tells them to do. This isn’t republic or democracy; it’s a plutocratic oligarchy.

The new ride includes a more comprehensive storyline — but that’s also the problem. The new grand finale of Snow White’s Enchanted Wish is the moment when the Prince finds Snow White asleep under the Evil Queen’s spell and gives her “true love’s kiss” to release her from the enchantment. A kiss he gives to her without her consent, while she’s asleep, which cannot possibly be true love if only one person knows it’s happening.

Haven’t we already agreed that consent in early Disney movies is a major issue? That teaching kids that kissing, when it hasn’t been established if both parties are willing to engage, is not OK? It’s hard to understand why the Disneyland of 2021 would choose to add a scene with such old fashioned ideas of what a man is allowed to do to a woman

This area of scientific activity, experts told Sinclair, carries a “dual-use”: It supports the development of new vaccines and therapeutics but can also be used in covert biological- and chemical-weapons programs, which China is suspected of maintaining. The State Department fact sheet said China is working “to engineer chimeric viruses.” In its 2021 report, issued this month, the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance (AVC) said the “dual-use applications” of China’s scientific research “raise concerns about its compliance with Article I” of the Biological Weapons Convention enacted in 1975, to which China is a signatory. That article prohibits member states from pursuing biological weapons.

The “dual use” of gain-of-function research has in turn divided proponents of the lab-origin theory into two main camps. Both believe SARS-CoV-2 accidentally “leaked” from WIV personnel, but one camp attributes the accident to legitimate medical research, the other to prohibited biological-weapons research.

I’ll diasgree with this. In Canada the Principals are (mostly) respected. The courts do override laws that contradict other laws, the MPs are elected honestly.
But with so many women and welfare cases voting, it is inevitable that politicians need to promise free stuff if they want to be elected.
Free stuff equals either debt or stealing from the productive citizens. Both are death for a community.

No. Consider the self-destructive behavior in arabic communities that lack a strongman / king. They fight themselves. They destroy themselves through war and theft rather than through stupid laws and debt, but they are still self-destructive.

    5. Which is the lesser of two evils here: the tyranny of monarchal rule or the self-destructive violence of a broken democracy?

Ha ha. You’ll never get an agreement on this question. Best answer I can give is to ignore the temporal, consider only the eternal, and then say that the form that best points people to God is the best system. But my thoughts on that are in the prior post, so I won’t repeat the details and logic here.

I grew up in the ruins of democracy–sorry, “iTs A rEpUbLiC”–so I don’t give two shits for it. In what other way do we think that all people should have a say? In business, the CEO makes the rules, and everyone goes from there. In a family, the father should be in charge. In the military, there is a single commander, not a committee. Only in politics do we all of a sudden abandon this principle. “Oh, no, we will let every asshole with a pulse run things. What could go wrong?”

Would you let the neighborhood council tell you how to raise your kids? Would you let the people you know tell you how to do your job? No? Congratulations, you believe in authoritarianism, so long as it’s you ruling over what you know best.

The best system ever has never managed to last more than about 200-250 years. While the worst system that is sooo damn oppressive manages to not crater fertility, import foreigners, and kill the inhabitants for millenia. Well, I’ll take the system that hasn’t resulted in an autogenocide every time some idiot thinks they can do better than the Greeks or the Romans. All this fuckup happens despite the fact that we have records of their mistakes. The Founding Fathers had the advantage of learning from the collapse of the ancients, and they still couldn’t design something that worked. “Greatest minds” my ass.

If a king–or strongman, for those of you too delicate to let dirt touch your knee–offers me the chance to take a wife and end the destruction of my people, and all he asks is that I kneel? Then he has fucking well earned it. I’ll bow, then I’ll go home to my wife and family, and I’ll laugh that I once believed that voting was a good system.

That’s pretty much the last 60+ years of how things have gone in this country. People vote, and then the inner city gets abandoned to savages, people are taxed beyond the point of diminishing returns, and welfare is paid out to the voters. Sounds a lot like conquest and looting. If voting means that only my side gets looted and conquered, then yeah, fuck voting and hail to the king, baby!

While our Country remains untainted with the Principles and manners, which are now producing desolation in so many Parts of the World: while she continues Sincere and incapable of insidious and impious Policy: We shall have the Strongest Reason to rejoice in the local destination assigned Us by Providence. But should the People of America, once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another and towards foreign nations, which assumes the Language of Justice and moderation while it is practicing Iniquity and Extravagance; and displays in the most captivating manner the charming Pictures of Candour frankness & sincerity while it is rioting in rapine and Insolence: this Country will be the most miserable Habitation in the World. Because We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition Revenge or Galantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other

Translation: our Republic, based on our U.S. Constitution, is possible only when populated by folks that are already bowing the knee to the rule and principles of a monarch-like entity (whoever is behind their religion). The unspoken point (and least not directly spoken) is – take away the monarch-like figure in the religious realm and you need a real monarch / enlightened despot, to rule with an iron grip that which will not rule itself (the democratic mob).

I think this is an acceptable response to Thundercock’s claim that the Founding Fathers did not create something that could last. Thundercock is correct. And the Founding Fathers admitted to that – saying that it won’t work unless it is populated by those already bowing the knee to a monarch-like religious entity, and adhering to their rules and principles.

Days after banning politics from the workplace to keep employees focused on their mission rather than distracted by wokeness, software firm Basecamp appears to have reversed course, suspending its chief strategist after he said he does not believe the company is white supremacist and after employees reportedly cried and screamed.

I signed up for the free personal version of Basecamp to check it out after the first story broke about them showing the freaks the door. Frankly, I’m not impressed, but maybe you just have to work with it for a while.

They only had 60 people working there. 20 wing-nuts already left, but obviously they should have given a bunch more the old heave-ho. Now they’re losing useful people and keeping the screwballs around. SAD!

    https://www.thepiratescove.us/2021/05/06/white-and-jew-hating-black-hammer-group-liberates-property-in-colorado-mountains/

If a white group acted this way the activists would demand an FBI investigation and the Credentialed Media would be constantly talking about their extremism.

But while they’ve been pushing Farrakhan-style racism on Twitter and getting stuck into charity work on the streets, Black Hammer’s members have been stockpiling cash. A GoFundMe campaign organized by the group has pulled in nearly $65,000 since last July. The group wants $500,000 to build a city of their own, with free healthcare, free rent, and no cops. White people and Jews are presumably not welcome.

Rocky, non-arable land with a very short growing season (it was snowing in the mountains of Colorado yesterday), and most likely limestone under the first inch or two of dirt. Those rivers and lake aren’t owned by the property owner in the west. Do they even understand water rights?

They want to build a city: with what? Who are they buying the materials from? Where will they get power from? Good luck trying to get the power company to run transmission lines up their. Solar? Will have to cover a goodly portion of the plot, which is reportedly a third of a square mile. What about clean water? Can’t necessarily just start drinking it. The running water is the safest. Sanitation? Meh, it doesn’t matter because few if any will stay there when it starts snowing around early September. Seriously, do any of these city kids understand being out in the remote mountains? Are there even roads or trails up there? Healthcare with what?

Some pics at the link. Don’t look none too prosperous to me.

Just keep firing people until all the woke are either gone or in hiding.

A strong military needs strong families. A stable society needs strong families. Lots of nice things require strong families. There is a pretty strong incentive not to cuck your subjects for a king who wants to remain king and keep his head attached.

You are comparing Arabs to Europeans, when you should be comparing Arabs to Arabs. As for the prison thing, we have political prisoners here in America that get thrown in deep, dark holes. The January 6th protesters are being held in solitary confinement without bail in plain defiance of the common law. Kyle Rittenhouse is out on bail,, but is being persecuted for what is absolutely and undeniably self-defense.

There is no justice here in America, and there has not been for some time. The US system just does a better job of propagandizing how fair and just it is compared to others. Without that propaganda, people would see that much easier. The much vaunted jury trial is a farce, particularly emphasized by Chauvin being convicted in part because of threats and also because an activist lied to get on the jury to convict.

I’m talking about Europeans, Gunner, Arabs are only useful as a comparison with and without monarchy/authoritarianism. European monarchies haven’t been throwing Christians in cages for over a millenia, except for psychos like the Puritans, who should have been genocided. It was European monarchy that made Europe great. It was the American (Still a European people) Republic, back in 1861 and again in 1918, that destroyed that system and paved the way for the communists, fascists, and assorted other degenerates to destroy the European people and their civilization.

I’m not a papist; they are clearly heretics. I’m not interested in a Islamic monarchy for European people. I want Christian kings crowned by Christian bishops on the thrones of the Christian American nations that arise from the ashes of the current system. Preferably Anglican or Orthodox churches, but each king will have to make that determination for themselves.

“Flame war” brings to mind The South Island Blue Flame Club, of which I had the dubious distinction of being self-appointed President. I held that title for quite a considerable percentage of my pre-pubescent years.

Like Scouts, we had badges for various levels of achievement. More often than not, a badge was not created until after it had been achieved. The “Flame in MacDonalds”, for example, was not conceived (let alone brought into existence) until after a blue flame had indeed been cast at other hapless customers lined up to buy Big Macs. The badge consisted of a crude sketch of the event.

I also recall a “Flame in Class” badge (which resulted in temporary suspension). And there was “Flame in Church”, “Flame on Roller Coaster”, “Flame at Christmas Dinner”, “Flame in Bus”, but the badge that finally brought about the downfall of the club was “Flame in Taxi”. By then the public at large had detected a pattern, and I was stripped of my title and awards in ignomony and shame.

Yes, which is why I said there is no justice. A scumbag druggie overdoses on drugs while trying to hide them from the police because he has a heart condition he knows exists. He then fights with the cops and gets put on the ground, where he dies because the mob wouldn’t let the ambulance close. That somehow becomes a violation of said scumbag’s civil rights and murder. It was ridiculous. All of the doctors, even the ones for the prosecution, said that if they found him in his home, they would have ruled it an heart attack due to overdose. We have medical doctors making medical decisions and evaluations based on cell phone videos, and that is admissible as evidence. Chauvin is scum, and fuck the police, but what he got wasn’t justice. What happened to George Floyd was.

The other day while listening to one of Pandora’s alternative stations, a “curator” came on between songs to announce to the listeners that he doesn’t like the genre’s whiteness. So, he’s going to bump white artists from his songlists in favor of “artists of color”.

So much for my hope of hearing Black Flag’s “White Minority” or Minor Threat’s “Guilty of Being White”, much less Skrewdriver’s “Free My Land”.

But I date myself. My mosh pit would smell like Aspercreme.

Because the truth is that “alternative” is marvelously white. The aforementioned punk songs were bona fide white resistance. Black Flag and Minor Threat weren’t overt “white power” bands, but much of the same energy: shaved heads, boots, tattoos, shirtless sweatiness, screaming. Skrewdriver, a British band, was straight-up NSFW-W (Not Safe For Work-White).

I said as much here in ss at the time, but even as I was typing that bold comment another breach of the border occurred and a new outbreak threw the public into a rage. Covid can’t come into NZ except through incompetence by border officials on this govt’s watch.

The uproar was such that Ardern went into hiding. It gave her such a fright that she has been super tough on the border since.

The irony is, for some time now the closed border has been our only restriction. All surviving businesses are open, no social distancing or mandatory masks, no restrictions on gatherings – schools, churches, sports etc.

Woke racism has also influenced essential health care decisions. Some woke “health experts” argued that “social justice concern,” alongside “science,” should help drive the CDC‘s decisions about how to prioritize COVID-19 vaccine distribution. The CDC created a “social vulnerability index” to help guide distribution. The index de-emphasized the elderly even though they are the most vulnerable segment and have suffered the highest fatality rate over the course of the pandemic. According to The New York Times, woke “experts” openly spoke about how letting the older populations who are also whiter die helps “level the playing field.” An infectious disease expert at Harvard even argued that teachers weren’t essential workers because “they are often very white.” For anyone ever wondering how a death panel of government-run health care might operate in practice, these woke experts’ normalization of racism should send chills down the spine.

Much above the village or county level all forms of government succumb to either grabbing power by force or bribery via gimmedats.

    Why?

Because at the village (and I mean village or neighborhood) one does not know nor need many of their fellow constituants. There is no commonality or mutual support actually experienced. If I do not share bread, labor or conversation with you then I don”t know you.

Then the natural differences of life experience, morals, discipline arise. I believe x they believe y, I want and will work for 45 but they will only work to 28. I want what they appear to have. If they only knew what it was like being xyz.

Only via mutual dependence and earned respect do people overcome their greed, stupidity and laziness.

Thus each civilization follows the cycle. Bad times, strong men, good times, weak men
    Or
    Splintered groups creating war/collapse,
Rise of a cause to rally together,
Building together until hardship is overcome,
Forgetting of hardship devolving on individual wants and pettiness

There is no justice here in America, and there has not been for some time. The US system just does a better job of propagandizing how fair and just it is compared to others. Without that propaganda, people would see that much easier. The much vaunted jury trial is a farce, particularly emphasized by Chauvin being convicted in part because of threats and also because an activist lied to get on the jury to convict.

And to fix this mess what we need is to give one person unlimited power (unless and until someone can assassinate him), eliminate all accountability (unless and until someone can assassinate him), and a lifetime reign. Guess we should start with Biden. Hail kind Biden! Can’t wait until Hunter takes over this should be great.

Spoiler: If you think it was natural, you are a fùcktard.

On the plus side, most of the scientifically educated NeverTrumpers I deal with who insisted it was natural because racist Trump called it the China Virus are now (sometimes angrily) stating the intermediate animal host was probably a Wuhan lab rat.

(An otherwise smart guy who got in a rather heated argument with me 8 months ago when I proposed it was statistically improbably for the outbreak to have started at the closest wet market to a lab studying exactly that type of virus actually said that a few weeks ago).

Bonus: Keep in mind that most American news media is beholden to the Chinese government and doesn’t like to cast any shadows on China for fear of losing a market of Chinese middle class that is larger than the entire American population… think NBC owned by Disney, ABC by Universal, CBS owning Paramount.

Liz, ultimate power in theory usually results in rather limited power in practice. One man cannot exercise all that power. You were close enough to the military to know that. Commanders have to delegate or they turn out to be shit commanders.

Assassination and revolution are great ways to keep a king honest. The Roman Emperors turned out to generally be an alright lot because the ones like Caligula and Nero got removed by the Praetorian Guard before they could do to much damage. Bad kings all over Europe tended to meet lethal ends and be replaced by another, better leader. They stick out because they were a radical departure from the norm, not because they were the norm. You don’t know all the men that led quiet reigns without war or turmoil because they get overlooked in the history books.

If democracy is such a great way to run an group of people, then why don’t we use it on anything but government? Families aren’t democracies, businesses aren’t democracies, militaries aren’t democracies, ships and planes aren’t democracies. It’s a stupid system that we only use because the country was founded by a bunch of leftist religious zealots that wanted to conquer the world insisted on it. Democracies end as violently as their existences are brief, which was something everyone knew until America forced the monarchs to abdicate at gunpoint during WWI. That turned out just so fucking well, didn’t it?

Just look at Russia. Putin took power and what did he do? He smashed the corruption (except for his people), lowered poverty, and made Russia a serious player again. He is amazingly popular in his country because they saw what he did for them. He didn’t do it out of the goodness of his heart, he did it because the path to power was to make everyone better off. Russia post-Putin is a much better place to live than Russia pre-Putin.

The neighbors of Russia are much worse off, because Putin is in charge. But that fact does nothing to refute Wulfgar’s point that the people within Russia are better off.
Now if you are an opposition leader in Russia, you have a pretty high chance of being accidentally shot or poisoned. But that is not a issue for the average person in Russia.

Russia has a fairly high level of corruption in the government. But again, is this a criticism of King Putin? Does not Ukraine, Moldova, Canada and the USA have the same issues? I think the USA and Canada do a better job of hiding it… but the corruption is there. (cough, cough, November 2020 election)

If you are an opposition party to Putin, you also have a high chance of being a spy. Navalny is being paid by the CIA and MI5. Guess what usually happens to spies in a real nation? They have a pretty good chance of getting shot or poisoned. Sounds like a ringing endorsement of Putin. Trump was the best we could find and even he was handing spies over to Israel like they did nothing wrong.

No, it’s historically been a friend, which was something I only learned recently. Only after WWII were we enemies. Now that they no longer follow communism, there is no reason not to be friends, again. It’s a combination of the men in small hats holding a grudge for being tossed out and the commies in America furious that Russia dared abandon communism and delay the eschaton. Not to mention that Putin stopped both groups from looting Russia once he took power. You scratch a communist and you are going to find a bandit.

There is no question a great leader is better than a crappy one.
And a great leader who is a dictator can get more done than a great leader with less power.

Numerous historic examples of how indeed one brutal man (or sometimes one brutal woman) can.

Hoping the firstborn of the last firstborn and the next after that will actually have the aptitude for the job is a big gamble. Especially when you start interbreeding. Just sayin. Monarchy has its drawbacks. Not trying to argue, just add some alt points to ponder.
