Young Men — Never Think That You Have Arrived

There might come a time when things in your life are going especially well. You have worked hard and there are good results. This is not the time to think that you have arrived. In reality, there might have a been a bit of luck involved (which is nothing to be ashamed of). The circumstances can change soon enough. This is especially true if you take your eye off of the ball.

This is true in the corporate world, this is true if you are running your own business, it is true if you are a performer (such as an athelete); it is true most everywhere. Younger people are maybe more susceptible to believing that they have arrived. So watch for it, and catch it in the bud.

On the other hand, one shouldn’t obsess over it. Just keep your eyes open and don’t necessarily believe it when people tell you how wonderful you are.

Spawny are there any good deals on Aussie wines in the UK at the moment?

The result of China’s punitive measures against imports from Australia is that NZ is flush with Aussie wines. We can buy Wynn’s Coonawarra Estate Shiraz for the equivalent of £12 GBP and the Cabernet Shiraz Merlot for a bit less than that. The 2013 Wynns Black Label Shiraz and 2015 Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon (real beauties) are going for about £19 GBP equivalent.

Just got back late last night from Mooc’s funeral.
It was very sobering. Open casket. I don’t like those.
It was very good to see people we hadn’t seen in almost 20 years though. Very strange everyone looked about the same. Very interesting group of people.

Mooc stood for “missing out on chromosomes” I never knew that.
Don’t know the story behind it. 😆

Interesting being a bug in the wall of these conversations again. I didn’t know (or had forgotten) Mike used a sim at Wright Patterson that was thought-controlled. 15 years ago

    Joke for the morning:
A guy goes into a bar and asks for a scotch and water. Bartender hands it to him and says, That will be ten cents” Guy says…”What? Why so cheap”
“Oh, we won the lottery and just like to hand out ten cent drinks because we like to talk to people and this brings in a lot of customers”.
Guy looks over at two men sitting in the corner without beverages.
    “What’s up with them?”
“Oh, those guys are pilots. They are waiting for happy hour.”
    (pilots are notoriously cheap)

    How was copper wire invented?
Two pilots wresting over a penny.

    Bah dum bump.

On a more sober note, Mooc died of prostate cancer and his PSA levels were normal. He was in stage four before it was detected. That’s very scary. I think we will get that genetic testing done that tells you what you might be predisposed to get. It would’ve saved him, most likely.

A community in North Carolina are mourning the death of a high school basketball coach and Spanish teacher who was reportedly killed in a gruesome shootout with a Mexican cartel.
Barney Harris, who worked at the Union Academy in Monroe, was shot dead while attempting to steal narcotics and money from the gang’s stash house, according to officials.

I’m not sure what value there is to that test. If it makes you worry more, then your increased stress level will contribute to your higher risk of developing cancer. Although early detection has its value, mostly the cancer industry isn’t interested in “the cure”, but in costly treatments.

Far better than “early detection”, is prevention. And the cancer industry won’t say much about that! Supplement plenty of iodine and a bit of selenium with it, to prevent most all estradiol linked cancer. Prostate cancer is a male estradiol linked cancer. Most estradiol linked cancers however predominately target women, e.g. Breast, Uterine, Endometrial, Ovarian, and Etc. Also there are plenty of other known things you can do to decrease your odds of getting cancer. Take your own care into your own hands, do some research into alternatives, our medical system is broke. While they’re great for dealing with injuries and trauma, they have a vested interest in only offering patented poisons, radiation, or surgery, for cancer, and they generally only push patented medicines for other conditions as well. The medical cabal will routinely ignore published medical research showing effective inexpensive treatments.

At work people often ask me why I always drink coffee. I usually tell them, “because each cup of coffee reduces my chances of getting endometrial cancer”. LOL However mostly they never get the joke, they just nod along like they understand, which is what makes telling the joke funny to me. ~ German engineer humor.

No, I was using “democratic” to denote “accessible to the masses”, while “aristocratic” is not. Genetics is an aristocracy. Gym-toned bodies are democratic in that everyone can get one.
Facial beauty is not democratic, it is is an aristocracy. Makeup and photos close the gap but not entirely, and in real life much of the photo stuff is removed (lighting, context, angles, filters), so the gap widens again and it gets more aristocratic.
Body beauty is more democratic — put in your time at the gym, guard what goes into your mouth, pay a surgeon and you can have a body that rivals the fittest (as a woman). So it’s more democratic and less aristocratic than facial beauty is.

Although true, it’s interesting to me the working classes do trend toward obesity as compared to the “aristocracy”. People are such natural mimics (culture is contagious), “democratic” tendencies also trend toward the “aristocratic” it would seem.
