The previous two posts discussed how to prepare yourself for speaking; that is, thinking ahead, keeping calm and being deliberate. This is what has worked for me. It feeds into my strengths, such that I ended up being acceptable in social situations.
On the other hand, there are naturals. They seemingly interact with others effortlessly, and are readily accepted in social situations. They always seem to know what to say and deliver in a manner that just plain works. They also have a leg up with the ladies.
Since I am not one, I don’t know exactly how naturals work inside. But that won’t stop me from speculating. I am thinking that their skill comes from thinking less. The more they think, the worse they do. Chime in if you have your own theories.
This might be of use to those who are not naturals. Develop your social skills by thinking, practice, hard knocks, whatever. Once you become pretty good, then stop thinking. Let it flow.
