Recently I have been exposed to several young female relatives. They are high on self-esteem as expected. It got me thinking about how the present day crop will turn out.
Perhaps similar to women of today, but more so. So I considered the girlfriends of my friend Joe’s wife. They are in their thirties, not feminine, not capable of doing much, no significant skills related to employment; you get the picture. However, they do think highly of themselves.
Is this enough to get them by? Perhaps so. They all have jobs that pay enough to live (though not well). But they supplement this with being awesome. Be it on Facebook, at night spots, on girl’s night out, etc. How are they awesome? They have the correct positions on all the issues, they take selfies of themselves with various facial expressions, they puff up their boyfriends (who are not really that impressive) on social media, you fill in the blank. Is this enough? I am not sure, but they can do much of this on the cheap; which perhaps is what matters.
So when is self-esteem not enough?
Exit question — how useful would it have been for these women to develop femininity, practical skills, employable skills, etc?
