Familiarity Breeds Contempt?

I have several distant relatives where the one spouse (one male, one female) treats the other spouse in almost a contemptuous manner. They don’t treat other people, including me, that way. There is the continual complaining, lack of respect for the other spouse, and lots of other stuff that you could envision.

The question is: why? It is often said that it is from familiarity. But is that truly the case? Is it complacency, where the one spouse believes that they have the other locked in and as such, can do whatever they want? From what I can tell, the people who do this probably don’t even realize that they are doing it. Maybe they just take the relationship for granted. It is something that they just fell into. But why?

Has anybody else seen this? If so, what might be your perspective?

Agreed, but my sample differs from yours. When a wife disrespects her husband, the marriage is basically over. But I do agree that it can run through generations.

One time around the two month mark of being married to my Mrs. She started talking in “that voice & look” that was calculated to be clearly disrespectful towards me. It lasted 10 seconds then I backhanded her. That was the last time in 27 years. I have zero tolerance for any woman that disrespects me. none.

People are wired to make assessments based on comparison.
Ever moved to a crap hole place, and a few months later once you’ve become accustomed to living there it’s normal enough?
The same thing happens when you move to a much much better place. “Wait….this is my actual home?!? I don’t belong here!” But once you’ve woken up 100 mornings or more in a row in that house you start to get accustomed to it. (a really fun thing is to go back to the crap hole with fresh eyes, that will make you grateful).
Same with jobs. The list is endless. There’s probably not a 22 year old fighter pilot starting out who wouldn’t say he’d fly for free if they’d let him. But that changes over time.
    and so forth.
The best way to avoid taking someone (or something) for granted is to do a proper value assessment. When you value someone or something you aren’t going to take it or them for granted. Most people are terrible at those value assessments, which is why there’s a market for smarmy songs like, “Don’t know what ya got til it’s gone”.

That is why The Door exists.

Both Of Us occassionally get in grumpy moods and say something stupid to the other.
Rather than it escalating into a fight the other simply looks at them calmly, silently and makes an exaggerated eye motion to the nearest Door. Message recieved.

After looking into the Abyss, it is not a threat or a warning but a reminder of what almost was and would be again.

As we say in our house, there will only ever be one more fight and it ends with The Door.

Age does this. At mid fifties there are so many examples around us of our value. Contemporaries having heart attacks and strokes,
Those divorced at 35 now dealing with 2nd decade of SMV marketplace
50s never marrieds looking at old age alone
Couples adjusting to being empty nesters
The indebted worrying about job loss at 55 while the frugal are early retired.

At our age it takes superhuman denial, stupidity or shelteredness NOT to see you relative value. At 55 life smacks you in the face with it ever day.

Up to 50 you can rationalize “if it doesn’t work out as planned I can fix it”
At 55+ its “Whats I got is whats I’m gonna have to work with”

Just about every time I go shopping, I tell my wife I appreciate her. Seeing western women with their masculine short hair, masculine clothing, obesity, pink hair or tattoos, reminds me that a feminine woman is not normal here. And I can’t help but make a comparison.

I really can’t image a man with a feminine wife ever throwing her away so he could instead be with someone from the 99% of Canadian woman who refuse to be desirable for marriage. It is unfortunate that so many men are willing to treat themselves like trash, by marrying trash. And that our so-called “pastors” are silent on the disobedience of most women and instead push men to marry an undeserving, rebellious woman.
I understand that you cannot predict what a woman will be like in 5 years… but if she is already choosing to be undesirable, maybe that should be a big clue — don’t marry trash.

  24. I think there are multiple reasons this can happen. In one case I know, it simply was who the person was in general. In other cases it has been a gradual thing based on lack of ongoing connection or understanding. In another case it was the long term outcome of mental and emotional abuse by the one held in contempt. In another case it was the projection of the persons inner state, they were not happy with themself and their life and work. In many cases today I think it is society and unleashed hypergamy combined with a culture that’s more often promoting breaking up and moving on than working on things or sticking it out. In some cases it can be a reaction to a partner has let themselves go (thinking of a guy I know whose wife gained a lot of weight and doesn’t care even though he urges her to be healthy etc. and maybe her excess weight and refusal to do anything even though she’s developed diabetes and other health issues, is a way to show contempt also? Mutual contempt?) In another example, an elderly couple longtime partners but not married, she was unable to let go of the anger she felt about a house fire she blamed on him after he accidentally put the ashes in the trash too soon and they smoldered and caught the garage and then house on fire. Sadly I can think of way more examples of couples w contempt on one or both sides than I can think of truly authentically enjoy each other couples.

  26. I’m wondering if anyone else is feeling this but it seems like in my area anyway that when Trump got sick and people reacted the way they did that the left lost control of the narrative and suddenly became the party that helps the president and his wife dies and at the same time I have never seen so many American flags and Trump flags on cars and houses and all over the place in my life. It’s like the right threw off the oppression and are loud and proud now! It kind of feels similar to the “deplorable” moment. The mask dropped and the true haters were revealed.

  29. From what I am seeing on Twitter and other social media, Kamalaa is even LESS popular than Joe! Among democrats, women even. I think in general people don’t like cheaters and her background calls her integrity and morals and such into question. Most women don’t like home wrecker types, even if I hear it was supposedly an open marriage type thing than clandestine. Women also don’t like women who use their sexuality to get a head at work. So I think it counts against her both ways. Instead of representing female equality she kind of reinforces old stereotypes.

I honestly cannot work out with the strategy was there. I can’t think of someone less charismatic or appealing than Joe and then adding her on top of that was just spectacularly bad. They should have picked the gal from Hawaii, I think! Very likable and mid road from what I have seen. Truly competent.

There is a rubbing/thumping noise coming from my 30+ (maybe close to 40) yo clothes dryer that came with the house. Opening it up I can verify its coming from the motor housing.
    $%^*.
I was ready to replace the rollers (did the belt a couple of years ago), but this is beyond me.

Get on a big box store site and find what looks to be a suitable replacement that can be delivered in 10 days (and the old one taken away). Some places aren’t even offering delivery or to even have it in the store for pickup for 3+ weeks, so I think’s that’s a relatively good deal. Now AFTER I schedule delivery and submit payment a banner comes up and says that my delivery may be re-scheduled or delayed due to the Covid-HOAX.

    I am not happy.

I can the delivery ph# on the screen and finally end up talking to a nice lady, who tells me that they are actually a third-party and not part of the big box company. She tells me that big box doesn’t actually stock any of the large appliances, and they just have to go by what the manufacturer tells them it’ll be available. She was very nice and I thank her and hang up.

Now, I consider this situation to be false advertising. I made a purchase decision based on having a product delivered in a certain time-frame and was given NO notice PRIOR to purchase that the seller can delay delivery if they so choose. Yes, choose. There is no reason why HOAX-vid should be delaying delivery at this point. That’s just bullshit.

Now kids stay on their parents insurance for most of their 20’s. Delaying adulthood by going to college only “start life” loaded down with unforgivable debt. I’m fine with the voting age being 30 now, but you can’t turn people under 30 into debt-slaves either.

So to add to this border thing and troops or whatever that Liz mentioned in Farm boy posted about the gal that started talking the COMMI E bs that I booted off my place shortly after the Floyd thing had started and she was saying all that tied into black panther counter culture plans put into play back then, she said it would start in WA, bc of the border, and spread from there. Washington Oregon and California have been operating in lockstep as far as the lockdowns and such. Hopefully they are not in on some kind of western seaboard BS. Anyway all these little random threads that maybe try together maybe not but that’s how my mind seems to work, I take in as much data from as many unrelated seemingly random sources and eventually the rings start to overlap and fall into place. Patterns emerge from among all that chatter. Hard to explain but I am a wiz at those find the path maze things too. I can always see it instantly.

FWIW I’ve had churchians try to shame/correct me for shaming my wife, as if I didn’t really mean to, or that I wouldn’t stand by my true assessment of her evil. LOL I only wish they had the nuts to call out her evil and unmerited contempt. Judging by their words I, the image of God, must always deserve contempt, whereas my wife just can’t ever deserve to be shamefaced, which becometh women professing godliness.(1 Timothy 2:9-10) They take sides without knowing a thing, except that God’s word empowers husbands, so they’re going to do the exact opposite. Kooky Cunt-Worshippers! Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. Tick-Tock! Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is coming. Repent! They may drink down the undiluted wrath of God at the end if they live to drink it, otherwise they will awaken from death to shame and everlasting contempt.(Daniel 12:2-3) Praise be to God, for He will bringing this all to pass.

The question is, how many people still believe what they are being told, by the press, and how much of it do they believe? If the masses still believe that the press loves America and is trying to report fairly, then we’re screwed. Overall, I think it is a good thing that the Speaker is addressing this issue by creating this body. But the timing is suspect, even though logical. If Biden wins, the House can use her creation to replace him. If Trump wins, the House can use her creation to replace him.

Let’s assume Biden wins, and the Speaker removes him at some point in the near future. I think the Vice President would then move into the President’s spot – but I’m not certain. Maybe the Commission that removes the President will have the power to appoint the person to fill the vacant position of President.

Assume they remove Biden and the Vice President fills the empty President slot. Assume Harris picks Hillary to be her Vice President, and then resigns. Hillary is now President.

    Mission Accomplished.

Some time back I said that I thought that Trump was not going to win. I think the Democrats understimated Trump last time and will make certain that they do not underestimate him this time.

I believe this even more strongly now than I did then. The Democrats have put an enourmous amount of effort into making it impossible to determine which mail-in ballots are legitimate and which are not. That uncertainty gives them the cover to through however many “ballots” into the pot that are needed to make certain that Trump doesn’t win in a particular area. This will help the democrats get the 270 Electoral votes they need to win.

But, consider this: The popular vote will be tabulated (correctly or incorrectly) by some deadline before the Electoral College is due to deliver their votes to the Congress. If it is clear to the Democratic decision-makers that they might lose, the confusion over figuring out with of the popular votes are legitimate will delay the official announcements of the winner of the popular vote. This gives Democrats time to work on the governers of States whose Electoral College votes seem to be for Trump. They can entreat those governors to replace the pro-Trump College members with pro-Biden College members – thus enhancing Biden’s chances of winning.

The problem with that scenario is, we have to know what the popular vote was in that particular state before we can know which Governors will cast votes in the Electoral College. How do we get a pro-Biden College member partcipating in the official Electoral College vote after it is determined that Trump actually did win the popular vote in that State? And how can we have an Electoral College vote in a State where the popular vote count is not finalized? Well, actually, we can’t. If enough States don’t finalize the popular vote count, the House gets to select the next President.

All of those glitches aside, these two links make for interesting reading. They both come at the same general subject from slightly different perspectives. I’m not one to pay much attention to conspiracy theories, but these articles present some ideas that are worth thinking through.

    Speaking of contempt…

    Crazy update.

Trial was delayed, but we got a hearing set up to discuss the Temporary Orders scheduled for tomorrow.

Friday evening one of my attorney’s gets a call from Crazy’s attorney, they want to ‘negotiate’. Hmmmm. It goes back an forth on Saturday until it stalls out, junior attorney suggests I take the less bad deal (junior lawyer is a woman), cause a hearing is going to cost me $3k in lawyer fees. We sent back the final counter offer and we got crickets.

I slept on it, realizing until Crazy starts feeling what this divorce is all about, this is going to drag on forever. So I’m leaning on telling my lawyer it’s time to get in front of a judge.

Well Crazy decided to double down on being a shit. I forwarded a HOA letter to her, she responds with trying to guilt me about some house repair and then doubles down to try to shame me with something I shared with her in confidence, all the while admitting that she hacked my online account.

I’ve had it with Crazy, she playing the roll of hostage taker with my wallet, she’s already stolen my kids, and now she’s screwing with my time. I am done negotiating with the Terrorist, time to call the SWAT team (aka my old bull of a lawyer).

Crazy has never seen inside the court room, much less ever been questioned by a lawyer or a judge, it’s going to get interesting tomorrow, because WhiteGuy is done, 17 months is long enough for me to be reasonable.

I’m now willing to nuke our estate from Orbit, ‘burn the ships’ etc.

Crazy wants to play chicken with me, fine lets see who cares the least.

She’s about to learn I DON’T CARE, I can rebuild my fortune, I can get a new woman, and I can make more kids.

So those of you who pray, pray for wisdom of judge and my lawyer and that justice will be done.

So my old bull of a Lawyer got involved this evening, told me this was a big move, and I should take the deal. He was with me on taking it to the judge until this last offer.

He didn’t like our chances with a black woman judge of getting a time limit set on the support, and he called this a win without me taking the hit of a hearing.

He also said he would float me until the end of this nonsense. (Said I was a honorable man and he trusts me)

He said the next step is to sit Crazy down for a deposition for 1-1.5hrs and keep the momentum going and set up for trial. (I’m sure that’s going to be fun one, Crazy getting deposed by this old lawyer and hers trying to keep from lying under oath for 1.5hrs!)

Anyway, I’m back up $1K per month, and no matter what this Covid nonsense does, this crap stops in March, and I didn’t have to spend $3K on a hearing.

Mean while the ball fondlers in the air force would be near on unopposed and full spectrum domination would take hours to establish, giving america complete freedom in our operational maneuvers with our own, short, secure supply routes.

That’s like the French invading Russia bad for the other side.

Math ain’t the chinks friends on this one. Them plus the Russians and who ever else wanted to team up don’t pose a serious risk to main land america

It is possible for China or whoever to archive a local level of parity or even superiority in certian areas of the world but that ain’t going to happen globally or in our local

  129. Thanks, that all makes sense to me, and hopefully everyone else.

I don’t see how anyone can think the U.S. wouldn’t know a hostile foreign power was massing troops across our border. Especially in quantities that could possibly pose any serious threat.

China does not want war with us. We would destroy them, and even better we could openly shoot all the traitors working here as their agents. First in Congress, then in the various government departments. The media would come last, because we’d want everyone to see the first couple of groups being eliminated.

If China needs to blow off some internal steam India is right there. I’m fine with that. India is not our friend. Them seriously hurting each other would be the best outcome for us.

Nd that story about the British soldiers was pretty incredible, too. That’s the way to do it, for sure. Never surrender!

Where I am at there is nearly constant talk of civiil war and I always think, that would be the stupidest choice ever. Soyboys vs Tons? Yeah, that would not be a good choice at all. But at least we’d be rid of all the soy boys and blue hairs right quick!

I doubt the USN has the ability to meaningfully control the sea anymore against anything close to China, but Ton is correct about the supply lines and the support. The aviation side of the navy and the air farce is still operational, and I think they can still make the supply route untenable for that many men. Plus, worst case, the navy can still manage to crash into the Chinese supply vessels.

There is an old military maxim that good officers study strategy while great officers study logistics. 75k ground troops probably need 3-4 times their number in support staff, plus supporting armor, artillery, and air (or anti-air) assets plus their support elements. No fucking way do you drop a force pushing half a million Chinamen under arms on the US border and no one says anything. No way can they supply that under duress and pressure from US aviation and missiles. Logistically, it is completely untenable and totally unconcealable.

Something that can be done is put maybe 50 men from the Chinese version of SF in Canada and train the antifa fucks. Teach them how to manipulate media, create improvised weapons, train them in firearms usage, etc. Nothing with a big footprint, and that you can supply with an expense card and a supermarket. I’m not even sure if most of the intelligence community would object to that even if they knew. That is the sort of thing China would do. They recognize the power of soft power, of having influence with the people in charge.

China, Russia etc dont want open hostilities and direct confrontation.

They all know the math on that much better then I do but they also habe their own security needs. Ex For the Russians it’s secured warm water ports. Them being in Syrai is about their access to the med sea.
So for them it’s a constant push back to gain control of their region but none of them think they could invade main land usa

The japs knew that in ww2, Germans knew that in both ww’s
All the wars we have been in as a nation since our revolution have been avoidable. Expect one.

Don’t care about otger factions killing each other. Our eyes need to be on what’s going down locally and like I said, the smart play is to let the other teams beat themselves up then we get involved right before their problems are resolved

There are 22 active carriers in the world. We own 11.

We own all the super carriers in the world. All 11 of them

The other 11 active carriers are jump carries with much less firepower

China has 2, Russia has 1. The other 9 belong to nations that would either back our play or stay out of things ( France 1, Spain 1, Brazil 1, italy….. 2? UK, 2,…… can’t recall the others)

We have ….. I think 71 active submarines…… our subs can travel the world. China and Russia have a lot of subs, but no one knows how many are active and how many of those can do lomg range combat patrolls. Probably not even 50% of their forces

Not to mention training budgets…. chicoms and Russians don’t really have them

Plus nations we can count on have their own smaller but still world class sub forces. UK has 11 etc

Even if our “allies” to act directly aginst China or Russia they would take over some of the patrols we run allowing us to concentrate forces/ fire power. And they will do that becuase the entire world economy depends on us protecting their shipping lanes and no one wants us to stop doing that

We have the largest navy in the world. By far. Our navy has the second largest air force in the world…. second only to our air force….. Hell our army has more boats and more aviation assets then most other nations have boats and birds….. last I looked we had more attack helicopters in the guard and reserve then anyone else had in total……..

More then that our military is desgined to project power in ways no one else is capable of. Our logistics and what not is on point.

There is no comparison. Which is why all these other places have gone balls deep on 4th gen warfare

I don’t think the US actually has 11 carriers. They have too many women on board and too few competent men to run all of those carriers in a near-peer war, especially when that near-peer has decided that he isn’t going to fight a glorious carrier-to-carrier battle. China doesn’t build carriers because they don’t need them. The aircraft carrier is the battleship of the modern age. Its great for beating on someone who can’t fight back, but against a serious opponent it will get sunk.

Supersonic missile swarms beat carriers, and AI targeted laser arrays beat aircraft. The weakest link in an aircraft carrier is the carrier, and the weakest link in the aircraft is the pilot. Sink the carrier(or its escorts to force it to retreat) and blind the pilots and you don’t have a problem.

A navy that crashes into the nautical equivalent of the broadside of a barn isn’t an effective fighting force. The aviation side might still be good, but the ships are not worth a thing. How are they going to fight a war if they cannot steer or see even when they are at peace?

Ton, I absolutely agree with you that Russia and China don’t want war. I would go so far as to say that Russia has broadly the same interests as Americans do, and we should be aligning with them against China. The problem is that the insane Washington running class wants a war with the entire fucking world, and the Chinese and Russians know this. The corrupt elites are trying to sell the country out from under the people to make a little more money while also trying to instigate war against their customers. Sell Russians uranium while trying to overthrow them and invade their neighbors, and sell China the industrial base while trying to forment rebellion in their cities.

I’m pretty sure Ruissa has two geo poltical concerns. One is exporting oil and what not. #2 is holding on to the two warm water ports they have access too.

Which are both kind of one and the same and why they fuck around in Syria and the Ukraine. Putin is one of their all time greatest since he got one of the Stans to give him complete military control…… access to a 3rd warm water ports.

For those counting they now have access to two ports inn the black sea and access to the med via Syria.

China’s concern is keeping it’s factories running and people employed so they don’t get taken down. They look to expand markets for their bullshit which helps make the shot callers wealthier and keeps them in power longer so the shot callers can stack more cash….. increasingly stack that cash somewhere besides China so maybe they think things won’t last much longer?

My take on the chicoms is a lot more guess work then my one on Russia

why would any enemy of the US bother with invading CONUS? The best option is to sit back and watch the current suicidal shitshow that is being played out in the here and now. When your enemy is destroying itself and a fairly rapid pace any input would potentially distract and delay that destruction, so do nothing but have some popcorn and laugh.

This country (US of A) is fucked.
