A little while ago I was traveling down a main road in a semi-well-heeled suburb. Parked along the road was this very large Cadillac that was not moving, with two cop cars parked behind, lights flashing. Upon further inspection, I saw a lady of about thirty, thin and well dressed, talking to the cops. One of the cops had a gas can in his hand and was moving toward the Cadillac. It all became clear what was happening.
The cops were going out of their way to take care of the lady. Supposedly they are there to protect and serve, so this maybe wasn’t such a bad thing. Of course, if I was in such a situation, they might have asked me what my problem was; after which laughed/scowled at my predicament. Of course, being a fella, I would be expected to take care of the situation myself. Furthermore, I would be expected to be on my toes such that it was avoided in the first place. This is all mostly a good thing, as it keeps men responsible for themselves.
There is of course the equality thing that feminists have pushed for seemingly forever. It does not seem to apply here. This is not really news. But it bears reminding.
A psychiatrist, while making a larger point, once said that it is almost impossible to run out of gas accidentally. Except in rare circumstances, when one runs out of gas, something else is going on.
Several years ago, while visiting my niece and her family, she and her husband took me out on their boat several miles downstream from the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River. (For perspective, the river is a mile wide from bank to bank at the spot where the dam is.) We travelled a mile or so upstream, looking at the vacation houses folks had built along the river. Then turned back down-river, toward home. And ran out of gas.
Fortunately, after a few minutes of drifting with the current, folks that my niece and her husband knew approached us from behind. Run out of gas, didja?” Made me think they had done this before. They tied a rope to the front of the boat and pulled us home. Husband is an engineer at Boeing. One would think he would never run out of gas.
This running out of gas thing is an interesting view into the workings of the mind.

I ran out of gas once. It was 2 a.m. I was trying to make the Oregon coast. I was 19. It was a lonely feeling.
I thought I was going to run out of gas once and it was very disturbing, momentarily terrifying. I was returning home in one of these:
I had spent the day flying with Capt. Steve, whose flying resume is Pleiku, and a lot of stuff, then Challengers and Falconjets. He still flies but from a grass aerodrome in Florida where he has a house. Steve has the same plane as I in this story. We’d been flying flight-of-two (30′ apart) all over northern Virginia. Other days we’d do lazy aerobatics in formation (loops, hammerheads).
Problem was I had my two year-old son in the back seat, so I was flying echelon right, because I would break off from time to time and give him a cookie or something. That means, however, in formation, I’m consistently flying cross-controlled, or, *inefficiently* from a fuel standpoint.

Having seen the image, I understand the excitement of running out of fuel.

Left hand can’t type, sorry.
So, Capt. Steve and I spend the day cruising the Shenandoah with BV#2 in the back seat. Eventually, the day is done, we descend and penetrate the Potomac Class B and fly a close formation approach to landing at Leesburg. (Flight instructors on ground claim “Careless and reckless”! lose their shit. They all want to be airline pilots.) Steve lands, I firewall it and break left, 90 degree bank, BV#2 is ho-hum 3 G’s go daddy!, staying below the Dulles airspace. I cross our beautiful Bull Run hills and the see the Blue Ridge straight ahead. My hangar is at Winchester, 50 air miles west. Life is really, really good.
Well. I’d been flying cross-controlled for 2+ hours. I don’t know what it’s like in a jet, but in a little aerobatic plane, you tuck in with left aileron and right rudder, so you’re flying a little bit sideways, and you’re moving the throttle nonstop to maintain spacing. My internal clock for fuel in that plane was 3.5 hours, then it was time to land. So I didn’t even check fuel. Until I leveled out crossing the Bull Run hills and I do the fuel check and … dead empty. Two year-old in back. I’m now in violation of FAA regs (must have 30 mins fuel on a visual conditions day). I’m now in violation of Don’t crash with child and Don’t bend the airplane. I contemplate crashing in front of my wife, because our house is en route. (I always flew over the house inverted at 500′ and she would start supper.)
I did not enjoy this experience of almost running out of gas. (I decided I could put it in a field as easily with no gas, as putting it in a field as a precaution.)
I fly a pickup truck now. There are five gallons of gas illegally stored under the tonneau.

I shortchanged the wife. I would buzz the house illegally. This meant I also buzzed our only neighbor. (Our neighbor loved it because he was a P-51 jock from WW-II.) After the low pass I went hard left and circled, then, after she always ran outside on the porch, usually with our daughter, who loves to cook with her, I rolled inverted on the fly-by. An hour later the plane was in the barn and I was home and there was Sunday supper with fresh and hot bread and steak au poivre or something and my favorite people in all of the world.

I really should respond more directly to the OP.
There’s a reason why women cry when a cop stops them. It works half the time.
Oh boy. Okay here’s another story.
I started my first company. I was 25. I moved my wife from NYC to the midwest. As compensation, I bought her a street legal race-prepared BMW 2002. (This was a truly magnificent car to drive to her job at the art gallery.) I was very smart about women. I thought they would like cars I wanted for myself.
No A/C, four speed, Weber, high-compression head, fucking awesome car. She hated it.
One day I came home and she had purchased a new bread-box Volvo wagon. (I still have it, incidentally.) We decide to drive to see friends in Madison Wisconsin. She’s booking along and we get our first ticket in Grinnell Iowa, 60 miles into the trip. We get our second ticket on 151 southwest of Dubuque. This is going well. We haven’t left the state yet.
After that she just bursts into tears, the next two stops. (On the way home.) No ticket. She got stopped again in Grinnell on the way home, and the boy-cop was horrified and backed up and apologized she was crying so hard.

i was in my late 20’s before i ever pumped my own gas. i had learned the routes to the few places that pumped gas for you … then i met my first husband at 19, and he always pumped my gas for me. until one day i was driving home from work (45? min commute) and i wasn’t sure i would make it, so i stopped and pumped my first tank of gas being VERY grateful for the guy back in high school who gave a speech on … how to pump gas! lol!
– – –
my ‘failing?” is running late – or exactly on time. it seems i read somewhere once that people who run late tend to think they can do more with time than they can … and they think that starting at 6pm means to be there at 6pm. but people who are always early see time differently. they see the start time as 6pm and think that they need to be there at 5:30 pm.
BUT … i am on time for the important things 🙂

October 21, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – A jury has ruled against Jeffrey Younger, the father who is trying to protect his seven-year-old son, James, from chemical castration via a gender “transition.” This means James’ mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas, will be able to continue “transitioning” him into “Luna,” and now has full authority to start him on puberty blockers and eventually cross-sex hormones.
The jury’s decision likely means that Mr. Younger will be required to “affirm” James as a girl, despite his religious and moral objections, and will also be forced to take a class on transgenderism.

One of the cheapest and easiest stress reducers is to live on Lombardi time.
Vince Lombardi time requires one to be 10 minutes early.
However, when dating, the skilled Lombardi-time follower does not arrive early. He lurks somewhere. Then he makes a quiet approach based on regional preferences. Midwest: knock at precisely the time of the date. Connecticut: assume, for a 7 p.m. date, she went upstairs for a shower about that time.

LOL, I laughed about you dodging the cops by crying. My wife never did any effort to manipulate things because she was female. As kids, we rented a house outside of Calgary. At the time she worked shifts and I was often in the North. The access road was gravel, often snowy and icy. She loved her Ford 150 because she felt safe because nobody would hit her “green tank” but they are a bit of a bugger in the winter.
So, I put a couple hundred pounds of turkey grit in the back of her truck and made her learn how to put the chains on her tires. Then I said that you know that the service station across from our road always has a young guy pumping gas, and if you ask him he will put your chains on, because that is how guys are. He won’t likely take any money, but if you give him a decent bottle of whiskey every now and then he will know that you are honest ;-D

i must stand up for myself … the crying was very much UNintentional. i was horrified that i cried. but … i’m’a girl, and girls do what girls are designed to do 😉
the first time i was in college and had driven back from florida, in my car with florida tags, and was going thru a small texas town and was looking for the changes in speed limit. the last one was covered by a tree, dadgummit! i had been driving for about 18+ hours and was tired and humiliated. he was kind to me. the second one was similar, i think … i only remember crying. the other two times i was stopped i got a ticket. so … iirc, and i’m not holding myself to those memories – lol – i’ve only been stopped 4 times … twice i cried and got out of it; twice i had to pay the piper. and one of those times i had to pay was the day i found out i was pregnant the first time! i was also so sick i probably looked terrible. anyway, no mercy from that cop! 🙂
you were a great husband; your wife was blessed to be yours 🙂

Think I mentioned before, Dad was always early…I have memories of sitting in front of stores waiting for them to open. I’ve always been an early person too. It really drives me nuts to be late…or running late. When I was a nurse I arrived an hour or more before my shift. Any earlier and I wouldn’t get the patient assignments so I had to wait until at least then or I’d have showed up earlier. That was so I could look at everything in their records…histories, vitals, labs. Then I’d clock in when it was time. It was always like that, for the lab I’d show an hour early too. Same for teaching. I start sweating when I think I’ll be late to anything.
Mike is the opposite. He’s mister “I will not be rushed so simma’ ”
It’s pretty crazy he’s a pilot/military guy always running late but somehow showing up right on time (to the job…to things like church, social engagements, et al forget it).
He’s the same way with gas.
Maybe it’s from flying fighters (things go through a lot of fuel), but he seems to almost enjoy gas crises.
We’ve actually coasted into gas stations…just enough momentum in the car to get us to the pump. But we’ve never actually run out of gas on the road. Knock on wood. It drives me nuts, but he’s been doing this for years.

More on running out of gas:
In the old days, you would fly to Europe in one of these:
Those are piston engines, people, and those are fuel canisters at the wing tips. I have no idea how many discrete fuel tanks were distributed through this aeroplane, but there were many and some guy called a Flight Engineer had to manage the tanks x engines problem.
Interestingly, standard practice was to run the tanks dry, observe the affected motor go still (well, windmill), switch tanks, observe engine re-start, drive on. While flying across the north Atlantic they induced engine failure, iow, to best manage fuel. There were many logical reasons to run a tank dry: Maximum range, knowing *exactly* how much fuel was on-board, if the prop’s turning it *must* combust and restart so no biggie, we got Greenland and three other engines if need be. If you were a passenger, you might look out the window and see one of your engines quit, incidentally. I’ve never read about any snowflakes melting down.
My first Bellanca Viking had five fuel tanks. Two in each wing, 17 gallons in the rear fuselage aux, 92 gallons total: a fair amount for a simple airplane. This is a Viking: I imagine I posted it before. But it’s Sentimental Tuesday. The Viking is a cross-country airplane with wings constructed like a Steinway piano: there are 1800 pieces of wood forming each wing; they’re not made any more, obviously. But that wing was designed by Giuseppe Bellanca, who optimized for performance over stability, and there’s only 1.5 degrees of dihedral, and half-span ailerons (the better to roll you over, dear). One cannot buy a transportation airplane today with a high performance wing like that. They don’t exist. (Mine is hangared. I don’t have a medical.)
My mentor, Capt. Steve the Falcon 50/900 pilot, who once landed a -50 on a 3000′ Vermont strip with me pretending to be the FO, was furious with me when I bought it. He thought I was going to kill myself in it.
Well. Fuel. I became enamored of the long trip. DC-Miami, DC Montreal, Iowa City – DC. It was magic: climb to altitude, alone, set power and prop, lean the fuel flow to max range, drift through time and space. And I’m a student of aviation history, so I started reading about how the airlines managed fuel when they ran piston transports. This led me to the run-the-tank-dry approach. That is, let’s run out of gas on purpose! I had to try it.
Steve gave me a fuel management protocol and yelled at me to follow it. Depart on the Left Main, switch to the aux (rear-most tank; move the CG forward), then Outside Left, Outside Right, Inside Left, Inside Right. Time each tank and leave a couple of gallons in each. Never deviate. This meant, of course, that I landed with a lot of unused gas sloshing around.
I started making like a Connie pilot. I bought a fuel totalizer, that was extremely precise, and predicted within a minute or two when I would drain a tank empty. So I’d depart, switch to aux, run it dry, the engine would quit, I’d switch to Left Outside, full throttle, give it a shot of boost, vroom, run it dry, engine stop, switch Right Outside, full throttle, shot of boost, etc.
Steve was furious. “You’re inducing your own emergency in a single engine plane you fucking moron!” (He is a jet pilot, and they always have at least two.) I asked, “How can it not restart?”
So I knew exactly how much gas I had because I ran the tanks dry.
***
Well, I was divorced. I took the children, 8 and 10, from DC to Iowa to ride bikes and do Iowa stuff. We were way over-gross weight, but I don’t worry about that in strong airplanes; I worry about being out-of-CG. We stopped in Fort Wayne on the way out.
Going back east, 10 days later, we departed IOW with full fuel and all our stuff and a decent tailwind (west-to-east), for DC. Weather good. Cheated a little and settled in at 13,000 IFR (you’re supposed to strap on oxygen), and ran out of gas four times as the sun went down and the world turned to night. Landed on tank #5 with 22 minutes of fuel, which violates the FARs, though I had the 10 year-old climb up front for the approach (CG again).
***
I have a new truck this year which I really like. But it has a fuel calculator (consumption and range) which is totally FOR SHIT. I don’t know how Dodge employs software guys who can’t do rate and range. My Porsche had a good computer in 2003.
***
Well, it’s been Sentimental Self-Indulgent Tuesday. BV believes in running out of gas, given the right information. BV OUT!

You don’t have to look any further than any of the sound bites from this past week’s Democratic debate or the recent town halls. when their dad was doing the really bad things to our daughters, Oldest had become very suicidal, so i took her to both a psychiatrist and a psychologist. they did not know one another. the things he was doing were so bad they were both ready to take him to court. now we had ‘experts’ to protect her. she wrote a letter to her dad asking for permission to be homeschooled, and given that he knew we had these experts, he granted it.
she had wanted to be homeschooled since she was little, but he was vehemently against it and got a court order forcing them in public school, even stating the location within the particular district.
when she got to that point, though, she was non-functional and unable to go to school.
he didn’t care about what was best for her. he hated me to such an extreme that he was willing to sacrifice his daughters so that *i* could not homeschool them. for him, it wasn’t about homeschool. it was about hate towards me.
concurrent to this with Oldest, he was also doing things to Aspie-Girl, and both ‘experts’ were willing to take him to court for those things, too.

Most of the bigger cities in Texas have corrupt leadership, but it IS odd to me that 11 out of 12 jurors sided with the mom. It doesn’t make sense, even in Austin (our most liberal city) I don’t think it’d be that stacked.
And I saw that fact in an article today, that she wasn’t even the boys’ REAL MOM… made me so angry, and just so sad for all those children that come from donated eggs/sperm. Who will their parents end up being in future times when there are no-holds barred? Gays/Lesbians who at best deprive them of the other sex parent they need, and at worst molest them since they need new recruits for their death-cult that can’t biologically reproduce their own – they have to go after children somehow.
The only hope I saw about this issue today was so many people on the articles outright praying (writing out prayers) for the boy and his brother to be delivered from this situation. There’s a lot of people praying, and feeling moved to pray.

But the individual players here matter less than the role such people are supposed to play in the life of the Republic. Simply put, the American people never asked these public servants to protect their interests. In fact, a great many Americans who elected Trump did so specifically because they were fed up with unelected bureaucrats acting like unaccountable rulers—rather like a deep state, actually.
More to the point, “protecting the interests of the American people” isn’t the job of these public servants. They have other, rather specific jobs. The job of career officials in the intelligence agencies, for example, is to provide the White House with intelligence relevant to national security. That’s it. They have no other role to play in public life, and for good reason.

Re. the Texas custody case linked to above – from here:
Younger and Georgulas were married in 2010 and later decided to have children through in vitro fertilization (IVF). They requested male children through the IVF process that was successful, and their twin boys were born in 2012. … At the time, both parents were members of the Orthodox Church.
Conflict arose in the next few years and their marriage was eventually annulled. While the court made the parents joint managing conservators, Georgulas was given exclusive rights and duties, while Younger’s were limited.
The jury was ruling on Jeffrey’s request to be granted sole custody of both boys. Likely they were instructed to confine their attention to the reasons why Georgulas was given exlusive rights and duties when the marriage was severed – to see whether there was sufficient reason to overturn that original decision. This recent jury decision was about that. It was not about the merits of gender change. Remember that juries are given specific instructions as to what the decision in front of them is about, and what things they might consider in reaching their verdict.
What I find interesting about the writing quoted above is that they only state that the marriage was annulled. My understanding is that annullment is a church issue. How can conservator and custody issues be addressed by the courts unless there was also a secular divorce involved?
How odd that the court can and will throw into jail one who physically abuses a child. But the court can and will protect one who intentionally has the child’s penis cut off.

Well – at least in Texas, it seems that the courts can annul a marriage.
Read through the Factual and Procedural Background section, starting at the bottom of the first page. That should remove any doubt about why sole custody was awarded to Georgulas. The decisions were based on issues having nothing to do with gender change.
Seems that he married up by lying about who he was. She was sufficiently enamored of who she thought he was that she married him and had children with him. Seems a familiar enough story. Run game and let her believe you are who she wants to think you are. Maybe for a one-night stand. But kinda hard to keep pretending your are someone you are not over the course of years.

And – the reason Younger was not granted sole custody of two little boys:
From Finding of Fact number 9: (a good number of pages down in the pdf file)
The record reflects Georgulas testified that, before they were married, Younger did not tell her he was in the army. According to Georgulas, she found out after they separated that Younger had been in the army and was discharged due to an “[a]dmission of homosexuality.” The record shows Younger testified he did not “mention much about the Army” during the marriage, but acknowledged he was discharged from the army due to admission of homosexuality. We conclude that there is legally and factually sufficient evidence to support this finding.
Now that y’all know some facts – how would you have chosen if seated on that jury? (Rhetorical question of course)

The Democrats and their Republican kindred spirits in the Washington establishment, having completely failed to see Trump coming, and after complacently assuming they could jettison him on the Russian scam, relying on the slavish allies in the national political media, now realize their backs are to the wall and this is their last play.
It won’t work, and while they are trying to execute it, prominent figures of the previous administration will be arraigned for cooking up the Russian collusion fiction and inflicting it on the country by corrupting the FBI and intelligence services. This will not be an optimal ambiance for trying to remove a president whose conduct is sometimes outrageous but who hasn’t broken any laws.

well, Richard was able to pull the legal document stuff.
hadn’t thought about what the jury was specifically asked to weigh on.
i’m not familiar with the legal system, nor with this part of it … but do they give jurers a form to fill out – like do they have to answer only specific questions and can only answer those specific questions and cannot consider anything else?
was the fact she wants to chemically alter this boy brought into consideration? was this information given to the jurers, and were they able to consider it on the form of questions they were required to answer?
what were they specifically asked? what information were they given?
sounds like, as Liz said earlier, his attorney sucked.
and the judge … female or male? … what influence did the judge have over this process?
and then … going back to the beginning … two people lying to each other … invitro … a woman who is not the bio mother … gets an annulment … can’t imagine how much good can grow from all that.
but, seriously … a woman who is a pediatrician wanting to chemically alter a little boy.
witch trials anyone?

@Liz – my rhetorical question about what choice one would make if seated on that jury was constrained by what I had said before. The jury trial was focused on only one issue – should the court overturn the status quo in effect currently and grant him sole custody. That is the only issue they were deciding, and their focus was limited to investigating his worthiness.
Liz, you said that you would choose the one who wouldn’t chop off the penis. I get your sentiment, but the jury was not choosing between him and her. They were choosing between the earlier verdict on him re. custody and a revised verdict on him re. custody. Her worthiness was not part of the consideration.
There were other issues raised by the wife to be decided. But, because she did not request a trial by jury, they were decided by the female judge alone.
As I asked above: how is it the courts will jail someone for “abuse” of a child, however defined, but will protect someone who chops off the child’s penis?
Truely depraved thinking.
Starting at Romans 1:22 – Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools … just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

@Ame – no form to fill out. Husband specifically requested a trial by jury on the single issue of whether the court would grant him full custody. Many pages down are listed the “Findings”. Those were the specific issues being considered by the jury. There are at least 10 Findings listed there. Those were the only things the jury could pass judgement on.
And, before trial, counsel for both parties get together with the judge and decide what information will be allowed to be entered as evidence. Based on the findings that are listed there, it appears that no evidence about her and her intentions were allowed to be entered as evidence to be considered by the jury. If the jury was not familiar with the story, then they would have no reason to know that gender-change was part of the entire story. From what I have read, many trials are one and lost at this stage, before the trial even begins. I’ve read many jurors quoted as saying if I had known that, if we had been allowed to know that information, I would have voted differently That is why counsel fights so vigorously up front to include or exclude certain information from being presented to the jury.
Generally, at the end of the trial, and before the jury begins deliberating, the judge will remind the jury of what decision(s) they are to make (perhaps printed on paper to keep the jury focused) and will instruct the jury as to what information they may consider and what information they must ignore in their deliberations.

Re. the link to SigmaFrame’s washing-her-clean link.upthread:
Just posting some idle thoughts here. Not trying to start a discussion.
Consider this phrase from Ephesians 5:26 that is part of that post: that He (Christ) might sanctify and cleanse her (the Church) with the washing of water by the word.
Some argue that these Ephesian 5 verses place an obligation on the husband to wash his wife with the word, as Christ washed his bride (the Church) with the word. Two points occur to me:
1. A careful reading will show there are no words in these verses that require the husband to wash his wife with the word. The only requirement is that husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies.
2. A careful reading will show that Christ is washing his bride (the Church) with the word. Assuming both husband and wife are redeemed, and therefore both are part of Christs bride that Christ washes, we end up with the following:
a. as part of the Church, husband is cleansed by Christ with the washing of water by the word;
b. as part of the Church, wife is cleansed by Christ with the washing of water by the word;
What, then, is left for the husband to wash off of his wife that Christ has not already washed off? And – to extend the metaphor – if wife has goo left on her that still needs washing off after Christ washed her, then we might presume that husband still has goo left on him that still needs washing off after Christ washed him. Husband is supposed to do a re-do wash on her? Who does the re-do wash on the husband? And Christ’s washing in not sufficient, not complete, at least on the wives??? Do we really want to claim that?
That scenario is not logical on so many different levels. I think Christ gets it all off with the first wash. And I think those who claim that husbands are commanded to cleanse their wife by the washing of water by the word are finding words where there really are not any. For the reasons laid out in Point 2(a-b).

Richard – (haven’t read his post yet)
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23
For the husband is head of the wife,
as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24
Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ,
so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives,
just as
Christ also loved the church
and gave Himself for her, 26
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27
that He might present her to Himself a glorious church,
not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but
that she should be holy and without blemish. 28
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies;
he who loves his wife loves himself. 29
For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it,
just as the Lord does the church. 30
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32
This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33
Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and
let the wife see that she respects her husband.
going to the beginning … how did/does Christ love the church?
prunes.
cuts.
disciplines.
why?
to make us holy.
sure, husbands need the same love from Christ, but wives aren’t commanded to love their husbands this way.
1 Peter 2:18-25 – 3:1-7 18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”; 23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror. 7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

The “Rotten” documentary series on Netflix has had some interesting episodes, including one on avocados.
https://readysteadycut.com/2019/10/04/recap-rotten-season-2-episode-1-the-avocado-war-netflix-series/
Well, the second half of Episode 1, “The Avocado War” details how avocado supply became part of the cartel’s leverage in Mexico. Rotten gives us a high-level view of how cartels tapped into local resourcing as well as drug trade to increase their profits in certain, avocado-advantageous Mexican regions. It’s fascinating how police and certain sectors seemingly merged into one, and the locals not knowing who was good or bad. Avocados are a big deal.
Tancítaro stumped my brain, as cartels in that region appear as police, and it’s frightening how it’s difficult to understand who the law enforcement is.
The super-food has become a magnet for the cartel, and although these regions have “settled”, apparently, the war on ensuring the supply remains in the pocket for the few is a fight still occurring.

Richard, Ame, et al.,
In art and literature, water symbolizes emotions. The idea of “washing” means to allow emotional experiences to renew one’s frame of mind and outlook on life. This is related to sanctification. Compare this to the concepts of “unclean” and “defiled”, which I explored previous posts, and cited in the introduction. Becoming unclean or defiled is when emotionally charged experiences change one’s disposition in a negative or unsuitable manner.
Men can be “washed” by learning new things and exploring new methods, hence the emphasis on the “word”. Women also find renewal this way, but often times, not in the right way. Instead, they tend to get caught up in the emotional experience, and lose sight of where it is taking them. The main gist of my post was to point out how men can use emotional experiences to coax a woman in the right direction, instead of allowing the woman’s own emotions to hold sway in the relationship, perhaps to its own destruction.

Divorce, in other words, is no panacea. If you want to avoid it, remove it from your mind altogether. One survey of 1,000 married women showed 50% have a “backup husband,” or a man who serves as plan B in case their marriages fail. Talk about undermining your own marriage!
These women have created a self-fulfilling prophecy. Fantasizing about a marriage that doesn’t exist and preparing for the demise of your actual marriage will almost certainly lead to its death.

MANCHESTER—Wow! This biological male raced a bunch of women on her bike, and you won’t believe what happened next!
The inspiring tale began when Rachel McKinnon, a biological male and self-described transgender woman, went to race against biological women. While you’d expect that the competition would be even, since men and women are the same and in no way are there any biological differences between the two genders, this wasn’t the case.
What happened next will shock you.
McKinnon crushed all of them. They didn’t stand a chance. It was almost like she had a biological advantage, but we had to rule that out at the start because it disagrees with transgender ideology. So instead it must just be her human spirit and dedication that caused her to win against the women.

Husband is supposed to do a re-do wash on her? Who does the re-do wash on the husband? And Christ’s washing in not sufficient, not complete, at least on the wives??? Do we really want to claim that?
That scenario is not logical on so many different levels. ”
^^But it IS logical in a marriage. When we accept Christ, we don’t automatically become mature, fully-developed, perfect Christians. We have to go through a very complicated sanctification process. In Philippians we’re literally told to, “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.” Not getting into any Calvinist/Armenian theology stuff (I honestly can’t argue for any of that well – my husband can though). But it’s clear that yes, both spouses will still have, “goo,” as you said, still on them from not yet being fully sanctified. And it seems that process takes an entire lifetime, and people can slide backwards unfortunately in old age (Solomon 😦 ). It’s a continuous process of staying close to God, and accepting/receiving rebukes etc.
Since the husband is the head of the family, he’s responsible in a big way for their spiritual maturity and growth, or at least, he probably should be. So it makes sense in that way.
It’s not that Christ’s washing wasn’t sufficient, but that the husband as being head of the household (and told to play the role of Christ toward the Church) should be the one helping correct her when she’s wrong. That involves some kind of discipline/correction, not meaning it can’t be done in love, but it IS needed, and it definitely is logical when you think about it.

To Jack, that’s exactly how I took your post. That the emotional experiences could be redirected, and not allowed to control the relationship.

Besides, I still feel guilty about not seeing Captain Marvel in the theater, even though it featured a strong female protagonist and anybody who didn’t see it and like it was a misogynist. So avoiding Joker too will even things out.
It’s the least I can do for the SJWs. They’re really bummed out that their predictions of incel violence and whatnot haven’t come to pass. And nobody seems to care that there’s a Gary Glitter song in it, even though that means the movie is promoting pedophilia or something. The whole thing has been a bitter disappointment for our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters on the left. They just hate it when their fervently wished apocalyptic predictions don’t come true.

Is it racist to point out the failures of most Spanish colonies? Well of course it isn’t. How can a fact be racist, other than in the fever-dreams of the Left?
We once kept communists and anarchists out of our country because we felt, rightly, that their brand of totalitarianism was anathema to the culture and values of The United States of America. I see nothing different in the political philosophy of much of South, Central, and a dash of North America
