Information Mismatch

Over at Dalrock’s, commenter Wagner Tench writes,

I’m a young man at a prominent California Christian college, and the expectation for “chivalry” is rather high. The girls often want to get married quickly despite being steeped in debt, and even if they are more focused on their career, they still usually treat dating/courtship as a huge deal, with “dtr” meetings taking place as little as two or three weeks in.

Consequently, very few men are willing to jump through the necessary hoops just for the slight chance at getting either a typical mainstream Christian marriage or a girlfriend who expects commitment and investment but brings little to the table herself.

The girls here are some of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. Lots of adorable blondes and redheads, and most dress reasonably modestly by modern standards. But the combination of student debt (for both men and women), unreasonable female expectations, men’s lack of willingness to risk rejection and coming across as desperate, and men’s increasing realization that investing in even conservative Christian girls is not usually worth the investment in college has made a lot of girls (and men) here very lonely. Even still, the girls here by and large just sit around wondering why men won’t ask them out. They don’t lower their standards or take initiative, and if they can’t find a man at school, they’ll sometimes find a guy outside the school. Also, I have noticed a massive increase in interracial dating because white men are increasingly ignoring romance with white girls, and there was already a surplus of white girls here.

One of my baby boomer professors goes on rants blaming it all on technology, and I just laugh. Maybe if college wasn’t so damn expensive and more men could have a relationship/marriage without debasing themselves and risking emasculation, the marriage rates would go up.

So here is the perfect spot for men and women to get together with the result being marriage.  It is officially sanctioned and all.  Yet, according to this fella, it is not happening.  Apparently, it is not even close to happening.

I was never part of this culture, so I really can’t comment to extensively, but it seems that the fellas understand the score, but the gals don’t.  The guys have had reality pounded into them by watching real stuff as they matured; the girls on the other hand have been fed a bunch a propaganda, with lots of indulgences thrown their way seemingly confirming the propaganda.

If the gals saw reality, they would lower their standard; they would take the initiative.  Perhaps they believe that the fellas will come around eventually.  They are after all, worth it.

Since women really do want to get married, protestations aside, is keeping them in the dark doing them any favors?

    Two remarks on the OP:

    1. The faculty guy declaiming on “technology” is spanking the monkey to porn three times a day. I had a pastor like that once. He was otherwise fine. But I said at lunch, “James, gee whiz, porn two sermons in a row? It’s a little weird.”

    2. The virginal pretties really, really, really do believe their financial requirements are the responsibility of the lucky guy who gets to be naked with them. For seven-point-two minutes of awkward procreative activity.

I had coffee with my ex-gf today and per usual, she drilled into my current social life. (Important: she ended it, not I.)

I basically think of her as a close friend and I was way to open with her, so it became a habit over time. I mentioned so-and-so and so-and-so and maybe so-and-so but not sure, and then the pilot is losing her mind after being married for 18 months and SnapChat from south Asia is trending ….

“Tell me about So-and-So here. What does she do?”

“She works in a bar. She dances.”

    “What?”

“She dances. At night. Looks a lot like you when she’s naked. That’s a plus. Too many tattoos though. She is over 21.”

So she had the usual female meltdown and interrogated me fiercely.

“Of course I give her money. I take her out to Walmart and we buy stuff and I buy her a nice meal. Then she washes my back etc. I fixed her car once.”

“You’re going out with a prostitute!”

“I’ve never gone out with anyone, save one woman, who didn’t expect me to pay her bills. (My ex-gf has resources: her mom owns farms (that’s plural) and her dad was very successful at E.D. Jones. In four years she never bought me a meal.) I believe you said repeatedly you married for ‘security.'”

One thing I never thought of, because my Dad and my ex-‘s Dad paid our college fees with checkbooks, one of these Good Christian Men could marry a Good Christian Darling and assume immediately (because “chivalry”) some girl’s college debt. And then she leaves him in five years … That’s a liability I never thought about. But I bet some young Christian women are ahead of me on that one. The pilot raged at me last night about the pre-nup she signed.

  7. There’s another level at play here not mentioned.

At one time, UMC girls went to college to meet a husband who would become a Dr. or lawyer or what not and she would have a better life, hypergamy, yada yada.

But as this guy sees, those girls had OAID college educations, paid for by their IMC parents. And those girls parents offered connections and aid to their prospective son in law’s.

That’s a far cry from $40k+ in debt and parents who are hoping the future don in law can carry them so they can retire.

    Ummm, yeah… awkward.

I mean does the explanation get any more simple than that. When one group gets punished for relationships and the other has their consequences covered up or transferred to men…it’s no secret why men have a lot of reasons to not bother taking initiative.

Heck I know when I take initiative the ladies like it…for about two weeks to a couple months….Then feminism rears it’s ugly head back.

They aren’t kept in the dark…they lap up the ‘I’m a goddess’ mindset left and right. They might see it as ‘you are good enough, you are strong enough, you are beautiful enough…blah blah blah’. So their ego filled heads are filled more than a goodyear blimp and that’s why a lot of them think 90% of men are unattractive.

I’ll bet you a lot of those lonely gals probably dumped 60-80% of the men who even bothered to take the initiative.

the OP comment is interesting. i went to a christian college in the early 80’s where it was known the men didn’t date much overall. there was the theory that many were gay. probably. idk.

the christian dating culture is … different. i remember when that DTR thing became a big deal … and all these rules were instituted – or at least they were instituted in theory. christian people often have a lot of surface rules that they look like they follow but irl they don’t. it would be interesting to know if any of those ‘sweet’ college girls are still virgins.

Bloom’s comments are legit – girls in too much debt and expecting that white knight to come along and make all that money and pay off her debt. i know that when my daughters were in public school it was EXPECTED that they would go to college and it was EXPECTED that they would do so with student loans. and every.single.time we opened a new acct at the bank or met with a banking person they tried to get us to take out an equity loan on our house to pay for college for our kids. no.freakin.way. my girls have known since they can remember that college debt is not an option. ever. for any reason. they’re sticking to that, and i’m so proud of them. but they are definitely in the vast minority. it’s still expected, at least in our little world, that college is mandatory – especially for girls. i know one family who has two in college and their third daughter graduates from high school this year. how the heck are they paying for all that? i’m sure there are some scholarship monies in there, but i would not be surprised if they’re taking out debt, too. but, they’re all ‘away’ at college.

this stuff has been a part of our mentality for so long that i’m often shocked when people don’t think this way … then i’m shocked that i’m shocked. silly me! i’m just glad my girls are their own persons.

    – – –

Bloom – your comment (last thread?) about those wonderful communities close to you? i would definitely get my daughters in their churches! 🙂

Behold the face of the Democratic Party: minority, young, and racist. This is the fruit of identity politics. Be it Omar, who is on the cover of the current issue of Newsweek, Rashida Talib (D-Mich.) who signaled the need to obliterate Israel on her first day in office, or the leader of the pack, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.), a proud supporter of the anti-Israel BDS movement, the “new faces” of the DNC constitute a united front in their hatred for our Semitic brethren.

And no matter what Pelosi says, Omar will not be reined in.

Let me add that I think it is no accident that these faces are for the most part young, minority, female, and attractive. No, I am not saying those characteristics are necessary in order to be anti-Semitic and/or leftist, because that’s not the least bit true. What I am saying, or trying to say, is that those characteristics make the message more palatable, the person more electable, and facilitate the speaker’s wrapping herself in the cloak of sainted victimhood protectiveness.

My Dad, a rural small town newspaperman, taught me to buy few clothes but buy good clothes. This was not normal. So he was the only guy where we lived who bought his suits at Brooks Brothers in NYC, or Hart Shaffner & Marx in Chicago, and I also learned to pay up for shoes and resole them.

Today I dress like Tucker Carlson (more correctly, because I’m older, he like I), because he’s Brooks or J.Press to the max. I happily wear 25 year-old shoes that were breathtakingly expensive on purchase, to an interview. I have shirts that have been professionally laundered and starched for 25 years. Around about 15-20 years the cuffs start to fray, but I wear them. Uniforms are useful and efficient.

TBH, I do buy Hermes ties, which Dad never would have done.

If you look at this picture, he’s not wearing a JC Penney shirt, in his NW Arctica SE Bumfuck University Town newsroom. He was probably cremated in that shirt. He only got fat once and then shed it when he stopped drinking a pitcher of martinis every night.

Anyhow, I think it’s funny that Carlson tells his handlers to fuck off when they tell him to stop dressing like a preppie. A person saves a whole lot of money if he dresses one way and sticks with it.

Turns out the wife is a friend of the daughter of the folks from whom my wife’s parents bought their Arabian horses. Wife’s horse Gayfad was sired by Fadjur, a national champion stallion owned by Jack Tone of the Jack Tone Ranch outside of Stockton. Jack and his wife are deceased and daughter and family run the Ranch now. horseman, don’t know what you think of Arabian horses, but here are some pictures of Fadjur, Gayfad’s sire. Very nice. Regal neck, elegant legs, nicely proportioned.

I like all breeds and am naturally drawn to heavier drafts.
But my personal horse Tucker is half appie half arabian.

Arabians have a reputation of high strung. Actually it is because of very high intelligence, endurance to spare and situational awareness. So to a lesser horseperson they are “skittish, flighty.”

Like riding a Triumph bike from the 60s versus a modern Honda or Hummer. Quick, responsive, well mannered but if you are not truly capable you will be tasting pavement.

The Appie in Tucker makes him loyal to me, Appies are one person horses. The Arabian makes him bush smart. Perfect combo for an endurance horse. Deep in the woods on a 30km course Ive never been on, give him his head and let him pick the path. If he wants to run, turn him loose, if he resists its because there is loose terrain ahead or water or wildlife.

Each breed needs its own care. Same as dogs, bikes, boats, planes.
Only the unmasterful blame the breed or the equipment.

ARLINGTON, VA—At a press conference on Thursday, American Nazi Party leader Emmett Scoggins told reporters that his group is not trying to instate full-on Nazism, but a much better system called “democratic Nazism.”

“People have us all wrong,” Scoggins explained. “We love democracy. We want people to be able to freely vote and have a voice at the ballot box.”

Reporters asked Scoggins if, under democratic Nazism, people could just use their democratic voting rights to vote against Nazism. He replied, “No, they could not. That wouldn’t be one of the things you could vote for.” He then clarified, “The things you could vote for would be stuff like how Nazi should we go? Double-Nazi? Triple-Nazi? Nazi-nine-thousand? The choices would be endless, but of course all Nazi choices.”

Scoggins was questioned about the use of the word “democratic” and how democratic Nazism was any different from plain-old Nazism. “The main difference is we add the word ‘democratic’ on there because people like that word a lot more than just plain ‘Nazi,’” Scoggins said.

The conference ended with a long speech from Scoggins about everything wrong with America, the need for democratic Nazism, and an impassioned appeal on how “real” Nazism has never been tried.

From the crazy childish woman story…

‘Police said 20-year-old Lizeth Guadalupe Ramirez told them her common-law husband assaulted and tried to strangle her, but her husband had a different story.

The man said he and Ramirez were seeing a movie when she asked him if she was pretty. He said he did not hear the question, but his lack of response irritated Ramirez.

Ramirez then reportedly hit the man several times on their way home before assaulting a relative who tried to break up the fight at the house.

She has been charged with two counts of assault.’

Anymore if women ‘go victim’…that increases their likelihood they were actually the instigator a lot. That’s just how it is ladies because your fellow sex uses that lane way too much.

    A SHORT LOVE STORY

A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping cabin on a trans-continental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying,
“Look, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m very cold.”
“I have a better idea” she replied “Just for tonight, let’s pretend that we’re married.”
“Wow! That’s a great idea!” he exclaimed.

“Good,” she replied. “Get your own blanket.”

After a moment of silence, he farted.

    The End.

in christian circles, the theme of getting a ‘second chance’ is huge … that God is a God of second chances. He is. but He doesn’t erase our choices as if they never happened in this life we live … the choices are still a part of us, and we still have to face them. it’s taught, though, as if the choices are completely erased as if they never happened (b/c God forgives our sins completely, and He does). the tragedy of that false teaching is that people expect the world to accept their ‘new purity’ and not to have to ever answer for the choices they made before getting their ‘second chance’ (or third, or forth, etc … which God does sometimes give but not always).

so … parents aren’t so hard on kids about sex because we’re all sinners, we all make mistakes, and, after all, it’s just *sex* … AND .. the biggie … the parents were probably not virgins when they married, and the dad is probably not the only guy Mom slept with – which she may or may not have fully disclosed to him. so how can they impose on their kids what they didn’t impose on themselves (and wouldn’t if they had the chance to go back and do it again).

then there’s the other side … the “True Love Waits” side, that totally ignores human sexuality and desire and need, even to the point of making masterbation a huge sin and forcing that sin and guilt on their kids when they sure as heck ignored that ‘sin’ (which the bible doesn’t call a sin) themselves when they were young.

throw girls with that background into a ‘christian’ college to find a ‘nice’ christian ‘boy’ to support them and take over their debt and accept their N count which is likely to be at least 1 if not more before she meets the nice christian boy … and then all the ‘secular’ teaching that has permeated ‘christian’ everything, including education … recipe for disaster. unrealistic expectations + unrealistic and false perceptions of reality = nothing but disaster.

Vandals and arsonists have targeted French churches in a wave of attacks that has lasted nearly two months.

More than 10 churches have been hit since the beginning of February, with some set on fire while others were severely desecrated or damaged.

St. Sulpice, the second-largest church in Paris, after Notre Dame Cathedral, had the large wooden door on its southern transept set ablaze March 17.

Investigators confirmed March 18 that the fire was started deliberately …

Quick PSA: Can we stop calling films “chick flicks” unless the films are literally about small baby chickens? Here’s why this phrase should absolutely be retired (thread):
    — Netflix Film (@NetflixFilm) April 15, 2019

For starters, “chick flicks” are traditionally synonymous with romantic comedies. This suggests that women are the only people interested in 1. Romance 2. Comedy. Which I can promise from the men I’ve come across in my life – simply isn’t true.
    — Netflix Film (@NetflixFilm) April 15, 2019

There aren’t sweeping categories specific to men. You don’t hear people asking to watch “man movies” – instead, pretty much every intersection of genre is on the table and seen as for men, except of course, the aforementioned rom-coms.
    — Netflix Film (@NetflixFilm) April 15, 2019

The term also cheapens the work that goes into making these types of films. Romantic comedies and/or films centered around female leads go through just as much editing, consideration, and rewriting as any other film.
    — Netflix Film (@NetflixFilm) April 15, 2019

And nicknaming films “chick flicks” drives home that there’s something trivial about watching them. But what’s trivial about watching a film that makes you feel 1,000 emotions in ~90 minutes?
