Shit Test Runaway

When a semiconductor gets too hot, it can change to allow more current through, causing it to get hotter, causing it to…  This is called thermal runaway.  The same thing can happen to a man with respect to his wife.

A friend described his old college buddy.  The buddy went on to become a doctor, making lots of money.  He married a woman, who immediately began to shit test him.  It started with smaller things, then escalated to buying $4000 clothes shopping trips to Nordstrom’s on whim.  And then it got worse.

How did he respond?  Poorly it would seem.  He gave in to all of these shit tests, for he could seemingly afford to.  Naturally enough, since he was not passing the shit tests, their severity escalated.  Finally he caught her in an affair.  This was something he could not ignore, so he divorced her.

If only he had stood up to her right from the start…

Marrying a woman basically means she can be a bitch to you all the time and the only thing you can do about is get divorced, then you get to pay her to be a bitch to you somewhere else, most likely in the same house you used to live in.

As for shit tests, it does seem as if the best solutions are counterintuitive.

My blog posts on Game are testament to that…and to the confusion I caused others who thought I was for Game, but yet denying it. Rather: I was anti-chivalry, but not wise enough to know it.’

‘Game is much like many Christian conservatives attachment to chivalry and complementarism. It hides the actual issue of rebellion with a “feel good” alternative. In this case, the “feel good” is making it seem like you have a good relationship instead of doing it God’s way.

Never thought I’d make that analogy like that, but it fits. The only difference is that chivalry and complementarism capitulate to the culture while game does not. All of them nudge you in the wrong direction.’

“Incel”, a label referring to the ‘involuntarily celibate’ who have failed to make a connection with members of the opposite sex may link Minassian with Rodger, who wrote in his manifesto before embarking upon killing about his failure to find a girlfriend and hatred of those who had succeeded.

“The beauty category and consumer have changed dramatically since we launched ‘Easy, Breezy, Beautiful’ nearly 20 years ago,” said Ukonwa Ojo, svp at CoverGirl. “People don’t think of beauty as one-dimensional, or matching traditional ideals and standards of perfection. Beauty should be diverse, dynamic and authentic.” The brand and its agency, Droga5, said it discovered that people don’t think of makeup just as a cosmetic, but as a tool for self-expression and transformation. The brand’s new positioning tries to reflect that insight.

“From a woman rocking a bold purple lip in the board room, to a teen wearing winged eyeliner while manning the cash register, makeup today is bold and colorful – very different from easy and breezy,” said Katy Alonzo, group strategy director at Droga5, the agency behind the rebrand. “The core challenge for us was to modernize CoverGirl for the modern woman.”

The marketer is attempting to do that by centering itself around a whole new tagline, “I am What I Make Up,” designed to challenge cultural perceptions around makeup and when, where and why its worn. CoverGirl believes that giving its target consumers permission to do whatever they want with makeup will help the brand stand out from the crowd, especially at a time of heightened competition and massive shifts in the category prompted by disruptor brands like Sephora.

“I am What I Make Up” Modern woman in a nutshell.
