Young Blokes — A Mission

Men must do.  This apparently is built-in.  It is innate.  It is not usually explicitly stated, but it is understood.  How does it play out today?

Form a societal view, fellas still should have jobs.  That much has not changed.  But what about him, what does a man need?  They need missions, goals to strive for.  They need to build something.  In days past, this probably meant accumulating wealth, but it does necessarily mean that today.  Present men have more freedom in a sense, as the expectation for him to marry has dwindled.

So if not accumulating wealth, what should a young man do?  Ideally it is something fulfilling and satisfying.  You choose.

Addendum by Deti,

“They need missions, goals to strive for. They need to build something. In days past, this probably meant accumulating wealth, but it does necessarily mean that today. Present men have more freedom in a sense, as the expectation for him to marry has dwindled.

“So if not accumulating wealth, what should a young man do? Ideally it is something fulfilling and satisfying. You choose.”

I wanted to build a family. for a man, that’s a mistake. Not building a family, but WANTING to build a family to the exclusion of everything else.

A man has to build something tangible. Usually that’s a career. Setting goals and reaching them. There’s jobs, yes. Careers are different. Careers are the mark of someone who’s doing more than completing tasks for which he’s paid (that’s a job). The job is something that’s done; the career is something that’s built, cultivated, maintained, and hopefully, passed on to a worthy successor. My mistake was in wanting a family over a career.

You can also build wealth and property. I’ve been more successful at that, since I earn a decent living. That requires some work, planning and understanding as well.

There’s also creation. Creating art, music, tangible things for others to use and enjoy.

A man can have and enjoy a family. But wanting to build a family to the exclusion of everything else is a mistake, because it leads to self sacrifice on a scale that leads to disrespect from the woman with whom you’re trying to build that family.

“So why young men need a mission they do?”

Because young men (and old men) need to make something. Men start out with nothing except their bodies, brains and hearts. The way they make their impression on the world is by creating something that then becomes part of that world or otherwise contributing in some way to the betterment or maintenance of the world. The way men do this is by using their wits, brains, and hearts.

And they also have to pay their own way.

If you don’t expect men to make anything or contribute anything, they become feminine. And play video games. And they don’t do anything or go anywhere.

Women don’t have to do that. All they need to do to make an impression on the world is merely exist, and have babies. That’s women’s contribution and creation to the world – having babies and taking care of them. That’s women’s mission.

Ton sums it up,

There is only one goal worthy of a man

Becoming sovereign over himself and his life

If every other egregious example of a male student denied due process after being accused of sexual misconduct gets ignored – this one should not be.

A male student who was accused of sexual harassment committed suicide just days after the University of Texas at Arlington ignored its own policies in order to punish him. The accused student’s father, a lawyer acting as the administrator of his son’s estate, is now suing the school for violating his son’s Title IX rights.

College administrators, as well as members of the media and legislators, would do well to remember the name Thomas Klocke. Klocke, a straight male, was accused by a gay male student of writing anti-gay slurs on his computer during a class. Klocke vehemently denied the accusation, and administrators who investigated the incident acknowledged there was no evidence to support the accuser’s claims, yet Klocke was still punished.

    Bloom,
I don’t know about you, but I have no inclination to get on an airplane and I may not be the only one.

    Yoda,
So they finally drove a kid somewhere to suicide. It is a shame that those responsible will not be made to pay for it. The school will have to cough up. That is, if a judge allows the suit to go forward. Paul Nungesser’s suit against Columbia has been derailed. He was Mattress Girl’s target.

As for young men finding a mission, it can’t be tied in to marriage and family. Not when every one of his friends comes from a broken home. Forget about education. All campuses are presuming that all men are rapists. Forget about being inspired by entertainment. All men are doofuses or bad guys.
    Incentives matter.

There is one thing. Music has not been made a mess of by feminists, at least, not completely. Here are Yoda’s favorite imposters and Liz gets to make a statement.

    Manspreading,

The idea of reducing the number of cars in Swedish cities was backed last month by Sweden’s environment minister, who argued that driving is a gender equality issue as well as a matter of shrinking the nation’s carbon emissions.

“Cars are driven largely by men so by giving a lot of space to cars; we’re giving a lot of space to men — at the expense of women,” Karolina Skog explained.

    Farm Boy,
They won’t let go of the issue that was the foundation of feminist snow plowing. They see men as the drivers of cars and women as pedestrians. So, they conclude that cars must be marginalized. What they haven’t considered is that the terrorist act was committed in a stolen beer truck. The beer truck is already at optimum size and is delivering at the optimum time. They can’t deliver at night when things are busy.
Feminists not only have a problem with math, they have a problem with logistics. Maybe the two are related, they both need an ordered mind to be understood.

Picture Shrieking Yale Girl from a couple years ago, the one who had the profane hissy fit over Halloween costumes.

Now take her mentality – privileged, entitled, demanding respect while offering none in return – and give her a bad hair cut missiles.

    That is Kim Jong Un.”

He is a Millennial both literally (he was born in 1984) and mentally, with the added “bonus” that he doesn’t just have unearned privilege, he legitimately has NEVER had anyone call him on his shit in any lasting way.

Kim Jong Un is what you get if the Mizzou students of the world take over the reins of power.

    Be fricking scared, people.
