My Dad Yesterday And Today

Deti commented,

Ton disagrees with me. He says MGTOW is less driven by low access to pussy than it is low access to economic improvement. Men have MGTOW forced on them because there aren’t any better options at all. Living with mom and dad in the basement. Working shit jobs. All because there are no better economic opportunities. That very well might be, I don’t know. What I do know is that if you are the bottom 80%, and you have no access to pussy, or very limited access to pussy, or undesirable unattractive pussy, then you have no incentives to get better or work for anything else. Men will eventually acclimate themselves to that, though. They also will acclimate to alternative living arrangments and lifestyles, I think.

There won’t be a confrontation. Alphas won’t, because it’s fine the way it is. Betas can’t. Ton says they don’t have it in them. He’s right about that, but there’s more to it. After a time, betas won’t care. they’ll have acclimated to having no women for so long that they won’t care either way

My Dad was a typical beta.  He was a laborer with no extra special skills or attributes.  Yet he found a fine wife, and raised a family with five kids.  All of this was done on a modest income.

In today’s world, he would be SOL.  I have many attributes that my dad did not have, that is, I am much taller, more socially adept, have a prestigious degree and career, etc.  Yet I was not able to find much activity until my late 30s.  My dad had considerable activity long before then, as he was married in his 20’s.

Now, projecting my Dad into the modern era, it would be easy to see that he would have had difficulties.   In fact, he probably would have been forced into MGTOW.  Most likely, he would have not found a path out.

What happened from then to now?  One perspective is that the last vestiges of the evil patriarchy were removed.  It used to be that women could work, and did work until they were married.  After which, they were expected to depend on the breadwinner.  This implied lots of things, that she would not be slutting around, that she was focused on what a future husband might want and her future family might need.  For her future depended on it.  This all made, perhaps less than sexy fellas sexy.  Nowadays, with the options of supporting herself, or having the government do it, less than sexy fellas really are just that in women’s eyes.

Of course, this stuff has been mentioned before here and elsewhere; but mentioning never goes out of style, as there are always new fellas on the web looking for answers.

I don’t think that it is all one way or the other. The only way the government can give these empowered women a decent lifestyle, is to take the money away from a man through divorce or child support. And even child support won’t really be enough in most cases. You can’t get $4k a month from someone who only makes $25k a year.

And as long as some guy has a broken down Honda that doesn’t start, and a six pack of beer, some woman will want to weasel their way in by boinking him.

    Farm Boy,
What is different in your father’s experience and yours is that your father could find your mother. Women with a committed attitude to marriage and family formation are just not presesent any more. For all the effort a man can put into it, it is not enough to overccome the attitude of a fun loving party girl who just wants to have fun.

As for a confrontation, there has to be. While alphas love the situation as it is because they have all the girls after them. The betas on the wrong end of the 80/20 rule are going to take until they realize how great their numbers really are. When they realize that and that the situation is permanent, they will seeka solution. In the interim, they will come to see that their foot is on the acccelerator pedal of society and the economy.

I can’t agree with ya fuzzy abut those kind of women “are just not present anymore”. There may be a whole lot fewer, but they are around. One of my daughters friends from high school got married just before her second year of college. Now that is probably more due to her being at Brigham Young University – Idaho, and what that means. The other one was in her class and got married last month, and without needing to be of pregnancy.

They are out there, just harder to find.

both sets of my grandparents had shitty marriages. one set abandoned their kids; the other helicopter-parented theirs. and although i’m quite certain at least one set was never faithful to each other, addictions abounded in both, physical beating in at least one, they never divorced. my mother left my dad after 40 something years of a mutually abusive marriage – i was not surprised as i don’t remember a time when she didn’t talk about it, and he’s too blue pill to have ever left her. despite all the degradation in both my gp’s marriages, they stayed married, and it sucks that my parents are divorced.

i know “The Good Ol’ Days” exist for some … but not for everyone. i’m not saying the current structure isn’t bad and tragic; it is. i’m not saying it’s not worse than most everything before; it is. i am saying that there was a lot of yuck and ick and bad in previous generations, too. the difference is that the pill and feminism have taken all that, exploded it on steroids, and destroyed all structure that had any semblance of keeping order in society. and totally destroyed the family, which has and continues to destroy kids.

  11. From what I see, at least some young people are still wanting to and are getting married. But there do seem to be two camps of attitudes in gals, those who are marriage minded and those who have drank the “wait until you are 30 to even think about it” kool aid.

Another strike against marriage today is how easy and socially accepted it is to leave. Women are often told their husbands are “holding them back” or “controlling them” and that the solution is to divorce. So even if a young couple marrirs, there’s little support outside of traditional religous communities to actually honore the vows thru thick and thin. And again, women drinking that kool aid aren’t told the whole story, how hard it will be, how unstable life can be on one’s own, how the “perfect guy just like in the movies” is not just around the corner.

Basically its somewhat the flip side of mtgow. The sooner such foolishness falls out of fashion, the better off everyone will be.

I know the mellenials get a lot of bad press but the ones I am meeting seem much more grown up than my generation was at their age (gen x). Perhaps the pendulum is swinging back to traditional ways and away from the failed “modernism” experiment?

I think if T is elected, especially, the “old ways” will be back in fashion and the “new ways” shown for the hollow promises they are and we might return to a more workable situation…

    Or at least I hope.

A lot of women have a bit of a paradoxical confidence thing. They think they are all that, yet they feel they are not, so desperately seek to confirm their high status by dating above their ‘league’. Too many gossipy girlfriends and not enough solid family values to guide them.
The idea that as a woman, you’re supposed to be part of the world of men, that your presence there is anything but awkward and embarassing, is a problem.
When I have girlfriends over, my husband will greet and retreat. When my husband has friends over, I’ll serve snacks and drinks and retreat.
Many women don’t realise that their presence is only tolerated because people don’t want to humiliate them by sending them away. And so it’s easy to think someone above your station will want you, that you really *are* more and better.
I don’t think the marriage market is as bad here as it is for you guys. We grow up watching American movies, expecting to be asked out and hit on at every turn. Now that happens in Southern Europe, but for us… Nope. Men will sometimes say something nice about a woman, but not when she can hear it. So we’re relieved to get a man at all, generally.

I think that this is the root of much of the anti-depressant usage in women. Raising YuGoGurlz that can conquer the world and have it all, really does the vast majority of them no favours. They should get the encouragement that they need (like boys need – gender appropriate methods), but let’s lose the insane special princess beaulux.

Did you ever get the feeling that November 9th is going to be an interesting day? We may well see the following all happen at once:

*Trump gets elected, bond yields go through the roof
*The Italian finally banking contagion spreads to France
*Department of Justice makes a decision on Deutsche Bank
*World lack of Dollar liquidity starts to go critical
*The Bond balloon turns into the Hindenburg
*Fed says December rate hike is slightly impossible

Based on past performance, it’s highly likely that nothing will happen, although I’d lay good money on the last one. Anyway, let’s breeze through them and see how things stand in this, a world in which there’s nothing to worry about at all.

I have had two drivers show up to interviews with their wife’s. Shuffled them along in a minute or two; had a guy say he needed to ask his wife 1st about when he could make a meeting, i blocked his number, and had one guy bring his wife to a business lunch, sent him packing without putting my drink down.

I can’t abide such men, nor will I entrust my future and my childern’s future to such weakness.

@SFCTon, My husband once took me AND our youngest to an interview. We checked out houses nearby earlier and it was too rainy to wait in the playground nearby, and our kid was too antsy to wait in the car. We waited in the lobby but I did shake hands with the interviewer. He got the job.
He has also checked with me during times of family crisis before making apointments, to make sure we could get some kind of help in his absence. If the wife is responsible for keeping track of social gatherings, perhaps a man just used her as a planner. Doesn’t have to mean he is some kind of feminist.

Maybe the people you sent away had good reason to take their wives along, and expected there to be a waiting area? Even I can’t think of a reason to bring your spouse to a lunch meeting, but the man may have had a good reason (or perhaps he wanted to throw her in there with the deal?)

I’d be interested in their reasons and reserve judgment (then again, maybe time is money to you).

Interesting though, I do have a functional relationship, but it’s still tough for me to see my beauty fade. The rare times I am outside without little ones I still see a few heads turn (I get mistaken for a teen mom at times, so flattering!), but not nearly at the same rate. I remember things like eating out, and a man at another table forgetting his entire meal, staring at me the whole time. Getting things for free in stores and on the market. The starstruck reactions, guys being genuinely thankful I even talked to them a moment. That’s gone now and while I have no use for the attentions of other men, ohhhh how I wish I could still feel that attractive. To know people envied my husband so much. I am happier, more contented, enjoy life more. I laugh and sing more, now. I know more and am not so insecure. I wouldn’t want to go back in time. But if they ever bottle youthful beauty… (whistful sigh)

You don’t have the right genitalia to understand but I bet 8 out of 10 men don’t need it explained to them.

I send men on the road for up to 3 weeks at a time. I have to trust them with up to 250k in equipment, the value of the load, and to make a host of on the spot and on the fly decisions to get the load to the drop site on time. On top of that they have to play games with the various legal codes to do so.

How can I trust a man to make those decsion, large and small, any one of which could severely hurt me finically if he has to bring his wife to the interview/ business meeting and or get her permission?

I need men who can make good decisions on their own. Not men who have their woman’s approval.

It’s even more critical regarding business relationships. If she is a factor in his business decsion making process I can safely bet one of my testicles the business won’t be his 1st priority and for small business, the buiness is your #1,#2, #3 & #4 priority or you go under. And you’re likely enough to fail even when it’s your primary focus.

  45. happyhousewifey says:

I understand you need a man who can work solo and make work a priority, but I do not understand how bringing a woman along or coordinating schedule with her equals NOT making their own decisions.

For example, I never had any say in coming along to look at houses and then my husbands interview, he found it convenient for a number of reasons. And when my husband checks timing of things with me, it is because I have a better memory for things that aren’t as important to him (such as when his family is coming over). We’re the most traditional family in our age range that I know of, I’m the only one of my peers who still gets cash household allowance, but he checks things with me sometimes. I cannot for the life of me understand how someone could see me as his ‘mommy’, ever.
Perhaps you work in a nice place and the men for hire thought to bring their wives along and make a day of it, and assume you have a waiting area for them. Would, to me, look like a sign of a happy marriage, rather than the men being whipped.

Assistant Attorney General Peter J. Kadzik shared information about the congressional investigation of Hillary Clinton with his friend John Podesta, according to new emails revealed by WikiLeaks.
“There is a HJC oversight hearing today where the head of our Civil Division will testify. Likely to get questions on State Department emails,” he flagged in an email to Podesta on May 19, 2015, with the subject line, “Heads up.”

Kadzik also updated Podesta on a FOIA case on Clinton’s emails.

“Another filing in the FOIA case went in last night or will go in this am that indicates it will be awhile (2016) before the State Department posts the emails,” he said.

Podesta forwarded the information to several campaign aides.

“Additional chances for mischief,” he warned.

As reported, Kadzik is close to Podesta, as he “kept him out of jail” during President Bill Clinton’s administration.

Podesta and Kadzik met several times socially during the election, including at a dinner a day after Hillary Clinton testified before the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Kadzik is now helping lead the Justice Department’s role with the renewed FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server.

    Ton, HHW:

    I’m sorry to be dense.

What is this about men taking their wives along for job interviews?

What is this about men having their wives accompany them to business meetings and/or events for discussing and doing business?

This makes no sense to me.

Ton: A man seeks a job with your company, and his wife is there, attending the interview? Why?

A man (or men) arrange a business lunch or dinner with you, the prime purpose of which is to do business, and spouses are there? Why? For what purpose?

What sort of men bring their wives to their job interviews? What sort of men bring their wives to a business lunch?

When it’s time to work, we work. Job interviews are work time. Business meals are work time. It’s not time to socialize or for wife to meet the boss and co workers.

I don’t understand this. I’ve been on job interviews. I go alone. I’ve been to hundreds of business lunches and dinners and “client entertainment”. I go alone. Wife and kids DO NOT attend. It’s work. It’s not play, it’s not socializing, it’s not fun time. It’s work time.

I didn’t ask permission from my wife to change jobs or take a job. We discussed it, weighed pros and cons, and I made the decision whether to take the job or not. It’s my goddamn career; not hers. I’m the one who will actually be doing the work required of the job, not her.

Help me understand this. I’m serious.

If your Dad were a young man today, I think that he would have resigned himself to living as a hermit.

My dad started his own business and did well for himself in business, but was a beta when it came to women and, well, pretty much everything else. He was born in ’39, went to a big public university and dropped out after a year and a half because it wasn’t for him. Fucked around for a year, then went into the army in ’60 and got out in ’63 after Kennedy was shot. Decided not to re-up.

Went to Third Tier State U. on the GI Bill, met my mom, got out in ’66. Mom who had finished her degree in ’65, went to California for a master’s degree in early ’67 after they’d been dating for 3 years. Dad was back working at that job he was working at after he’d gotten out of the army and before he went back to finish up at Third Tier State U. But he was interviewing here and there. He called her, told her to come home because he wanted to get married. He had just gotten a job as a junior executive at BigCorp.

She came home and married him. A year later, I was born. Four years after that, he left BigCorp to start his business.

Dad was 27 when he finally got it together. He was a thinly built, prematurely balding, socially awkward man with, perhaps some sexual experience. Mom was a plump, short, insistent and demanding young woman with short hair who ran the roost wherever she was and had little dating experience because most men weren’t good enough or just wanted sex. She was a first wave feminist who would never, ever cop to it (while reaping the benefits of the first wavers).

Realistically, each was the other’s last, best option. She wasn’t going to do better than a guy who’d been with her 3 years, one year of which in a long distance relationship, especially with her personality. She was average looking at best, and had pretty much rejected most other men. He wasn’t going to do any better than a woman who’d stayed with him even after he spent a year fucking around in his job working for the railroad repairing track, a job for which he was massively overqualified (but he liked it OK and made some decent money).

Take Dad, and that situation, into the present day.

Dad is your typical basement dweller, drifting through life, working odd jobs, going to the community college. Dad eventually finishes the degree but doesn’t really know what he wants to do. He eventually gets a job as an assistant manager at a Wal-Mart. Other than my mom, he has absolutely NO sexual prospects AT ALL. None. Absolutely NONE. If this doesn’t work out, it will be months or years before any woman even looks twice at him.

Mom stays in California. Mom is going places. She’s 23 with a bachelor’s degree. She’s not coming back to the Midwest for a guy who runs a discount store. It doesn’t matter that they have 3 years of history. Doesn’t matter that she loves and cares about him, or that he feels the same way about her. No. Fucking. Way is she coming back to Bumfuck Boondocks. She’s getting that goddamn master’s degree and getting a career as an academician at a college or university. Fuckall if she’s wasting time getting married and living in the middle of nowhere with a guy who’s just now getting it together… at almost 28.

Dad and Mom break up, because he’s not going to Cali, and she’s not coming back to the Plains. That’s how that works out.

I saw this and wanted to share. Appearantly China has a problem with surplus men because of its one child policy. Parents will selectively abort in favor of boys because they will take care of their parents and there is no expectation from daughters. Between that and insane hypergamy, there are going to be hundreds of millions of Chinese men who will never find a woman. They are just beginning to realizae it. 102. Believe it or not, Asians are not in their minds interchangeable. So a Chinese doesn’t want to marry a Korean, Thai, phillipino, etc. or traditionally they have considered each other as different as apples and oranges. Not to mention a long history of warring w or invading each other etc. there is a very defined pecking order and the Chinese consider their culture above others (and it is, to be fair, the oldest continuing civilization on earth, many others rose and collapsed as the Chinese adapting and kept going on.)

I only know this bc my uncle by marriage is Chinese and I have heard his family discuss such things on multiple occasions. It happens, and likely will have to happen more bc of the lopsided gender skew, but it is looked down upon. (And yes his family was unhappy he married my aunt. They did not have children either, partially bc of these reasons.)

Years ago I could see if one had a daughter in China, they would be at an advantage in the long run. Girls were so scarce (or adopted to America and other places) that families w sons were offering large dowery as young as age 5 to arrange a future wife for their boy.

America did not invent “racism” despite what they were told in history class. It’s existed worldwide for centuries…

Anyone who is native Chinese is welcome to correct me if I have gotten this wrong but that is my outsider understanding anyway.

My uncle is an awesome amazing person btw, love him very much. I am blessed to have experienced another culture thanks to him.

For many reasons, both for genetics (they are “true Chinese”) and bc inter-cultural matches can prove very difficult. And there is also the worry a “foreign bride” will not support the son supporting his parents in old age, as is the tradition. Etc.

  108. SFC Ton says:

Men who can afford maids won’t be the ones more or less forced to marry non Chinese

  109. True, good point. My uncle’s family is fairly well off and were even more so before fleeing China’s communist regime when my uncle was a baby, arriving in HK with nothing, then rebuilding. So they may not be representative…

  110. fuzziewuzziebear says:

I believe that you are correct. Only Chinese girls will do for Chinese boys. Even if interracila marriage was approved, there aren’t enough women in Asia. I think we have a serious social problem coming up. What is interesting is that it will be fueled by hypergamy, which was not a problem in the past.

  111. My uncle, for example, is a physicist and nuclear engineer and is considered the “slacker” of his family! All the rest are doctors, lawyers, famous artists, trade barons, etc.

  112. Fuzzie, true. Although in China, the govt. dictates so there’s that, men may have no choice. Hong Kong and China are admittedly very different.

  113. SFC Ton says:

That don’t have to marry them to relive the social pressure

Fucking some frogien bitch on the regular would probably due.

We have been hearing about China going to war or collapsing due to no women correct awhile now. Hasn’t happened, so sign of it being a major problem and if it becomes a peoblem, the answer is right there. Nor does the problem for the chicoms need a 100% solution. You get 5% of the single men to marry non Chinese, get another 15-20% to bang non Chinese comfort girls and all of a sudden the problem is manageable again

  114. fuzziewuzziebear says:

If I were a young Chinese man, I would be pissed. Women found men good enough in my father’s time. Now, hypergamy has gone over the top and all the women are demanding the top five percent, maybe less, of men as their equivilent for marriage. As a young Chinese man, I would not know where to take my anger.

Armchair solutions are not going to work.

    Liked by 1 person

  115. @ fuzzie, in this case the govt. created the situation, perhaps that’s where the anger will go?

As for Chinese women exercising hypergamy, I know it may seem calculated and unromantic, but why would they not? Supply and demand is in their favor to marry well and possibly far above their station, of course they (and their families) will pursue the optimal match possible. Why wouldn’t they? It’s a golden opportunity to advance their family line/offspring, which is really the motivation behind hypergamy. Especially so in a clan based culture such as theirs. If their daughters pair well, they benefit too. It’s very different than how hypergamy is expressed in the US bc casual sex, baby mommaism, chasing bad boys, etc. is not an option there.

Ton’s suggestions are practical, and likely how it will be dealt with. Individuals will suffer but China as a whole will carry on.

It’s a grim situation for lower ranking Chinese men, for sure. 😦

    Liked by 2 people

  116. fuzziewuzziebear says:

This is hypergamy on steroids and supercharged. At a guess, maybe less than one percent of men in China have their own house and car. It will come back on the women because they will hold out for men that don’t exist. This will only exacerbate the problem with men. The thought of a few hundred million Chinese men who will never find a wife bothers me more than a little.

Love doesn’t exist in a vaccuum, and romantic feelings can fade in time. I do not think romance should be the sole guide to partner selection.

Deti, I do not make decisions on my husbands career, and I doubt he would have taken us along to an interview at a tiny place, but a building that had hundreds, maybe thousands walking in and out. We just had a number of things we wanted to do in that city that day, and why should he take the trip alone and waste the fuel to take us along another day?

Once the contest became Trump versus Clinton, Trump had the early fear advantage because Clinton was talking about her policies and experiences while Trump was talking about rapists, terrorists, and ISIS drowning people in cages. If that matchup had stayed the same, Trump would have coasted to victory. We saw him briefly pull ahead earlier in the summer.

Then Clinton went “full fear” in her messaging, cleverly framing Trump himself as the biggest risk to humanity. While Trump was scaring the public about crimes and atrocities that might affect some of us, Clinton was talking about Trump’s “temperament” leading to nuclear war, and his “dog whistles” leading to a new American racism. That would affect all of us. You can’t top that kind of fear message. And so we saw Clinton’s poll number zoom ahead of Trump’s later in the summer.

Then came the Wikileaks. And Project Veritas. And the FBI’s latest announcement about the emails on Weiner’s computer. We watched Clinton physically collapse in public. Individually, none of that news was big enough to make a difference. But collectively it framed Clinton as a drinker in dubious health, who hired bullies to start violence at Trump rallies, and runs a Mafia-like shadow-government called The Clinton Foundation, funded in part by companies that benefit from war. Add that to Clinton’s confrontational language about Russia, and suddenly Clinton looks as dangerous as Trump. The fear persuasion was approaching a tie.

Then the Access Hollywood tape dropped. Our brains forgot about fear for awhile and concentrated on the appalling things Trump said and – according to several women – actually did. Voters abandoned Trump and put his poll numbers in a big hole.

But here’s the catch. You might be disgusted by Trump’s interactions with women. You might think he is a terrible role model. You might think it is an insult to the women you know and love to even consider such a person for President of the United States. You might think a dozen different bad things about Trump. But – and here is the important part – you probably are not afraid he will try to kiss you personally, or grab your p*ssy. And given his busy schedule, there is not much chance he will get around to acting inappropriate with anyone you know. Fear-wise, Trump’s interactions with women don’t have much impact on you as an individual. Your brain took a vacation from “Trump has a bad temperament and might destroy the Earth” to “Trump is a p*ssy-grabber.” The new frame is the less scary version of Trump, albeit icky.

Quite by accident, the Access Hollywood tape took the scare off of Trump. It made you think of Trump as an ordinary flawed human and not Hitler planning the Holocaust. . . . Clinton’s new messaging this week is focused on Trump’s views on women. She wants you to think a President Trump would take the country backwards in terms of how men treat women. Her persuaders are doing a good job of piecing together evidence and producing ads. But there is one problem.

    It doesn’t scare anyone.

Ran into a young lady sporting two lip rings, purple hair and a Trump hate

Shirley the purple hair and lip ring wearing White chicks is hrc’s core support group, yet there was one self identifying as a deplorable

Only after the first couple of episodes. She was super cute in the first two. And if you look at some of her music videos, she was pretty hot. You just had to turn the sound off.

Like the rest of them… lol

    Spawny Get,
So, Lena Dunham wants to see white men get killed. I guess that makes her a feminist. This should be widely distributed.

You are a little full of yourself.

That bit about hypergamy gone wild in China is in keeping with the original post. A generation ago, these kids would have found mates, just like here. This stuff has been exported worldwide and it probably came with the smartphones.

    *shakes fist* Why I oughta…

If you want to watch a real blokes’ show where three daft men do daft things just because they want to, without a woman in sight (though women watch it too, for the laughs) then Top Gear (pre Chris Evans King of the Wanktards) is the place to go. There was an American spin off (that I rather liked, but not as much)

Here they are in Albania. At the last minute Bentley reneged on giving Jezza a Bentley Molsanne…so he took a shitbox Yugo and called it a Bentley and slagged it off relentlessly

Amusing clips Spawny but I have a hard time getting into car shows

I could spend my time watching watch people drive etc or get into one of my muscle cars, or get on one of bikes, or jump in my truck and do some 4 wheeling….

Reckon i am not much of a voyeur

I see that Ton, but in the end it’s a show about mates. Three grown men that are mates that do stuff (around cars). It’s not about women, it doesn’t cater to them – which is part of why the BBC hated the show that made them a lot of money. Also it was highly unPC. Curiously, the show has a fair few women fans.

Unlike the seventeenth century, I don’t think the political class is prepared to fight their own battles.

I think most Western nations are in a sort of cold war version of a civil war.

Down side is, the shot callers don’t realize it and won’t take steps to avoid it.
