Commenter FML stated,
Feminism and Liberalism are very much like Heroin addiction.
All consuming. Destructive to those around you. Costly in terms of money and lives. You end up alone and quite possibly dying alone with no one willing to help you. No one can help beat your addiction, unless YOU want to do it yourself. And in almost every instance, you have to hit rock bottom before that happens.
Perhaps the description is more apt with respect to the feminine imperative. Over the course of the last fifty years, little by little, rules have been changed and goodies distributed for the benefit of women. The thought typically was, “If we just change this one more rule, or add this one more goodie, everything will be better.” The unspoken assumptions would be that everything else would remain unchanged. Furthermore, this everything else would continue to provide the level of service to women that it always had. Things did change, and not necessarily to women’s liking.
This is all like the typical sequence leading to drug problems. The first hit feels good. Subsequent hits are fine. Then, over the course of time, the hits are no longer so good, and both your body and the world around it starts to fall apart. Perhaps you believe that one more hit will fix things. That is where we are now. Hillary Clinton is that last hit. Here is how she will fix things,
In Trump’s world, even though he himself is obviously a social liberal and it’s painful when he tries to fake otherwise, pockets of traditionalist resistance to recent social change will be allowed to exist.
Not so much in Hillary’s world. It took her forever to admit she wants gay marriage, but she’s on the train now, and something tells me the DOJ, EEOC, Ed Department, etc. in her administration are going to have the zeal of the convert when it comes to continuing the cultural jihad launched under Obama.
The late Michael Kelly nailed it in 1993, when he wrote a New York Times Magazine profile of her titled “Saint Hillary.” It opened:
Since she discovered, at the age of 14, that for people less fortunate than herself the world could be very cruel, Hillary Rodham Clinton has harbored an ambition so large that it can scarcely be grasped.
She would like to make things right.
She is 45 now [how time flies! — Tusk] and she knows that the earnest idealisms of a child of the 1960’s may strike some people as naive or trite or grandiose. But she holds to them without any apparent sense of irony or inadequacy.
She wants to “make things right”–that is, she wants to make us right.
And right now we’re all so, so wrong to her.
That’s why it was so natural (and telling, and terrifying) for her to call her political enemies “irredeemable.”
That’s why she sees enemies and conspiracies behind every bush.
That’s why she thinks everyone who opposes her needs to be reeducated or crushed.
Trump really only wants to make his opponents think differently in one regard: He wants them to think Trump is awesome. Beyond that, as to what you think and say, he doesn’t care.
Hillary wants to make her opponents think differently across the board.
She wants to save our souls.
Yes, she will save our souls. She will make everything right with respect to women. The Feminine Imperative will be totally unleashed.
