Back in my blue pill days, I experienced a news event that left me perplexed. After the Coalition of the Willing invasion of Iraq there was much unrest on the left. The country music group the Dixie Chicks gave a concert in the UK. Note that they are a country music group, which is associated with cowboys, patriotism, working people, etc. As a side note, in the farm country, country music has replaced all other types of music there; you go into a store, you hear country music. It wasn’t always this way, it is that other types of music became unpalatable in the countryside.
Back to the story, the Dixie Chicks at the U.K. concert commented that they were ashamed to be associated with George W. Bush and the Iraqi invasion. Since presumably the UK does not have an country types, this was all well and good. Or so they thought. Word leaked back to the US about what they said, setting off a firestorm. Radio stations in promotional events drove steamrollers over Dixie Chicks CDs. In short, they angered their US fan base.
The Dixie Chicks really stepped in it. What to do? Pose nude for a magazine was the obvious answer. Why didn’t I think of this? Probably because I am a logically thinking guy. When it happened, I thought that this was hideously stupid. How does this address their remarks that pissed people off? I would have expected modestly intelligent media to point out the obviously silly distractive nature of the stunt, but I was disappointed.
What we had was a perfect storm of feminism and general leftism. The Dixie Chicks were suddenly empowering themselves with their nudity, and the leftist media just played along. I wonder how many people saw that the empress had no clothes?
If a white male group had done the same at a concert, it would have been more difficult for them to pull some type of distractive stunt. Lefty white males are not given the same latitude; probably they would have had to work much harder, an been more clever to create a distraction.
So once again, if you are a white male, you have to be better. You can’t depend on a perfect storm to wash your sins away.
