Hostile to STEM

Recently I linked to this article.  They make some points about men getting the short end of the stick; but then seemingly to balance that out, they state this,

All this notwithstanding, it is clear that men continue to benefit from some unfair advantages. For example, they dominate the high-paying tech sector, often creating work environments that are hostile to women.

Let us focus on this hostile environment accusation.  There are a couple aspects to consider,

I. Men have been taught since they were boys, that they need to get the job done.  Covering for often incapable women is not conducive to this.  The fellas get unhappy.  Why are the women like this?  Perhaps they were affirmative action hires, maybe they just want a free-ride because they are women, perhaps they just are not particularly intelligent (women’s IQs are mainly bunched around 100, while lots of men’s are much higher), perhaps they were spending their time in high school and university soaking up validation while the fellas with no such options were developing their STEM skills; perhaps you can provide more. (Note that there are some capable STEM women, NASWALT – Not All STEM Women Are Like That).

II.  In any corporate setting, there is now enormous pressure not to allow anything that might upset women.  Nothing that has any element of harassment, no nothing.  Dealing with lawsuits and government bureaucracies is just to costly to consider.  Hence the workplace is policed very tightly.  Perhaps there are a few very small outfits of few guys who are trying to fly under radar on this, and probably they can; but any outfit larger has the CYA mentality.

So where exactly is the hostile environment and how precisely is it hostile?

I have to wonder if goldfish have the same experience of not realizing that water is wet. Earlier, the CYA mentality was brought up. It is hard to avoid trouble when one group is always seen to do right and another is seen to do wrong.

Nobody is taking the male STEM students out to dinner, so they don’t have that distraction.

official: men are checking out of higher education in Britain.

According to the daunting study by the Higher Education Policy Institute, women are now 35% more likely to go to university than men. Men are also more likely to drop out, or get a lower degree mark when they graduate.

The gender gap is even greater among the least advantaged: young girls are 51% more likely to attend university than boys.

A mere 9% of young white men from disadvantaged backgrounds make it to higher education.

This shouldn’t surprise us. Who would actually go to a place that has waged a war against young men?

    Hostile to jobs she is,

Much of Clinton’s demise in the state is being attributed to her recent statement that if elected president she would put coal workers in the unemployment line. When asked at a campaign event about why poor white people should vote for her, Clinton said she wanted to move toward renewable energy sources and that “we’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business.”

That snippet was replayed again and again over the last couple of weeks and made Clinton look hostile toward many in the state.

The thought did occur to me that, given how badly the witnesses lied and colluded in their testimony in the first trial, to hols a second trial that would have been more of the same would be malicious prosecution. I don’t know what the law is in Canada on this matter but, the prosecution and court could not claim ignorance in a second trial.

In Soviet Union (I don’t use an article “the” because they don’t know what they are), everyone is tested for IQ.

So once I asked my CTO, Alexey (not his real name) what his IQ was. Well. He explained:

“They don’t tell you if it’s over 165.”

Alexey’s first job in the evil empire was designing the landing control system on the MiG-29. All you need to know about the difference between an aviator in Russia and the US Navy is that if you hand fly a landing on Russia’s and botch it, you may be shot. It’s all software, all the time, in that naval air corps. He migrated from there to graph theory, which is how you direct ICBMs. He wouldn’t reveal to me what he really did for 10 years, for fear of being assassinated.

To get hired in my companies you had to solve problems that Alexey — and his subordinate — put up on the white board. I put industrial exhaust fans in his office, because he brought Marlboro Reds by the garbage bag, to the office, the better to work 20 hours a day. Alexey, who is a short pudgy guy, married to a woman who designed tethered satellites in her 20’s (her Ph.D is astrophysics), would sit, drag on his excellent cigarettes, and say “hostile” things like “Show us how to solve this problem.”

Once we scored a recruit, an MIT Ph.D (male) with recent high-level experience in our discipline (which I’m not going to reveal, but you couldn’t get a credit card or cell phone in the 1990s without our software touching your db file, (and Spawny, I know my way around Brit banks and insurance cos as well). He left the office in tears — he was openly crying — after 30 minutes. I guess it was a hostile environment, or he was an overrated hack. My money is on the latter. The hottest HR VP I ever saw (daughter of a Special Forces colonel who won a Silver Star for certain unsavory activities in East Germany) walked into my office with her painted-on jeans and decolletage and screamed at me for 10 minutes, using words of the sort her father had taught her, and they included the usual: “pencil dick no-account dweebs”, “fat fuck mathematicians”, “dip-shit cocksucking asshole-loving fags” and the rest of it. I had to listen, and mollify. I couldn’t claim a hostile environment and sue her, because it was my environment.

Look, the world of high-level quantitative analysis, and the associated software that enables insight, cares only for actionable skill and intelligence.

We employed about five Russian women in our crew. They were intelligent pairs of hands, and they loved working in such a place. Finally they had found a home where the only thing that mattered was intelligence and productivity. I had 95% retention, year over year, in my engineering group during a period where most companies had 25%. All we cared about was the right answer, and politics and appearance mattered about as much as color and texture of the ceiling tiles.

These people re-upped with me through four companies and we built the foundational technology still in use in commercial and counterinsurgency/counterterrorism intelligence. Because the only thing that matters is *the right answer*. This is what the SJWs want to destroy.

P.S. I only slept with the HR VP once. My bad. She married a dumpy CFO for a big corporation and got herself fat. I can hardly recognize her, and she once trumped any Penthouse pet. These days she’s celebrated for building an “inclusive” culture for a Fortune 50 company. I’m sure they have different interview protocols, the better to build an army of cubicle-dwelling nothings.

In a trial making headlines all over Britain, a lesbian couple are charged with murdering a 2-year-old boy that one of the women had from a previous relationship with a man, and then trying to blame the toddler’s death on another boy the couple allegedly had abused. The so-called “Liam Fee” case involves the March 2014 death of Rachel Trelfa’s son. The boy’s father had been living with Trelfa more than five years when their son was born. A few months later, however, Trelfa moved in with Nyomi Fee, with whom she later registered for a civil union

At Johns Hopkins, after pioneering sex-change surgery, we demonstrated that the practice brought no important benefits. As a result, we stopped offering that form of treatment in the 1970s. Our efforts, though, had little influence on the emergence of this new idea about sex, or upon the expansion of the number of “transgendered” among young and old….
I am ever trying to be the boy among the bystanders who points to what’s real. I do so not only because truth matters, but also because overlooked amid the hoopla—enhanced now by Bruce Jenner’s celebrity and Annie Leibovitz’s photography—stand many victims. Think, for example, of the parents whom no one—not doctors, schools, nor even churches—will help to rescue their children from these strange notions of being transgendered and the problematic lives these notions herald. These youngsters now far outnumber the Bruce Jenner type of transgender [autogynephilia]. Although they may be encouraged by his public reception, these children generally come to their ideas about their sex not through erotic interests but through a variety of youthful psychosocial conflicts and concerns….

When “the tumult and shouting dies,” it proves not easy nor wise to live in a counterfeit sexual garb. The most thorough follow-up of sex-reassigned people—extending over thirty years and conducted in Sweden, where the culture is strongly supportive of the transgendered—documents their lifelong mental unrest. Ten to fifteen years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to twenty times that of comparable peers.

Based on that my ramp was a hostile environment.

Yo! missy! its a blizzard so get in the deice bucket and spray frozen glycol on that bird and do it right… OR People Die.

Yo! missy! pay attention! See that flashing belly light? Means move the fuck away before the turbine spools up and sucks you in cause the pilots cant see you back here under the belly.

Yo! missy! Get moving! Pushback in twelve minutes because we have a A320 fifteen miles out that needs this spot.

Yo! missy! no you cant leave early to do whatever. We have 26 birds to cycle in eight hours and four crews to do it with. No they come early, little thing called Airspeed!

    To misquote the green guy
Do or… Get the hell of my ramp
    There is no try…
