Oprah Winfrey is apparently running It’s Not You, It’s Men, a series of “discussions” regarding sex and relationships aimed at women.
Among other things she’s promoting is the fallacy that once-a-week sex means that a couple is happiest. Said fallacy is backed by a study issued by the Department of Psychology, University of Toronto Mississauga. One respondent to this article -clearly female- said, “Ditching the husband in your late 30’s also helps with easier orgasms!”
Another piece of “advice” offered via Oprah’s media empire has a woman, actress Tisha Campbell-Martin, telling her husband that while they love each other, it isn’t enough for her. “I want you to like me…I want to be your girlfriend.” The post doesn’t explain in any detail what this means in practice, or what it does for their sex lives. But it makes her look like she’s trying to work on her relationship.
Interestingly, the series also presents an opinion that women aren’t going to like much: “Men are endocrinologically designed to cheat.”
“Sociologist, sexologist and professor” Eric Anderson posited that “Monogamy is not the normal expectation across the world — monogamy never has been a normal expectation across the world. It is a new invention.” Can you hear distaff teeth grinding over that assertion? How DARE he try to excuse men not coming to heel to their owners – er, wives?
“Professor” Anderson’s solution to this issue isn’t going to play well with women either: “I want to teach society to accept that alternative relationship types are viable — including open relationships, including swinging.”
His defense of his position isn’t a strong one: “[Cheating] might just be about having sexual desires met. Not because you failed to love, not because you don’t respect your partner.” Doesn’t he understand that men only get access to the Golden Vagina when he gives up everything he has, especially his freedom? There is nothing in the marriage vows which directly address sex. It’s merely assumed that there will be some. It’s also not defined how much is “some”.
One respondent -usurping her man’s given name as part of hers- declares “A woman’s biology tells her to mate with the strongest most virile man but we’re not designed to toss a man over when we’ve found a ‘superior’ mate.”
I’d love to hear her explain the myriad of AF/BB tales abounding across the Internet!
Leigh Newman wrote a piece not featured on It’s Not You, It’s Men -but still presented by OWN- which takes a more realistic and non-gendered look at sexual relationships. Of her five “tips”, the only one I accept unquestioned is her fourth: Lesson #4: Don’t Excuse Bad Sex
There are times in life when sex is bad — and so many different ways in which it can be bad….No one in their right mind will insist that these are indications of a wonderful relationship. But they are also “every once in a while.” They are not “every day.” They are not “every week.” And they are not the “once-a-month” sex that you acquiesce to because after a while, it’s just so uninspiring or uncomfortable that you give up on the activity. No matter how handsome, funny, honest, smart, kind and sexy a partner is, bad sex isn’t something that you can live with it.
Fix it or face up to the possibility that you may need a new partner.
Sounds like the blame is laid at his feet, doesn’t it? And the Cock Carousel commences rotation once more as Oprah’s portfolio grows!
So what to do? My opinion is expressed by two commenters, one replying to the original:
OP: “Affairs don’t start in the bedroom. They start with a conversation.”
Reply: “So never, under any circumstance, talk to anyone.”
The same applies to bad marriages. If you ignore women, you can’t get into trouble of the sort you will regret the rest of your life – something I know all too well.
I wish that the following tune was more gender-balanced, but I agree with the basic sentiment:
“It’s Not You, It’s Men”…
…they don’t find you an attractive proposition

Correct. That’s why I don’t understand sexism of any kind. For an individual to lump either 49% or 51% of the world population into a box of mental hatred or disgust is just…weird, honestly. It takes a lot of energy to actually be angry (at least for me), and that’s usually energy that can be better used elsewhere.
The only thing that could account for it is that men are capable of beating up women. While we are not about to, there is still the fear.
Unless an individual proves themselves to be violent, or is acting in a physically aggressive way that could readily become violent, it’s logical to assume they won’t just fly off the handle for no reason. You can’t go through life afraid of everyone, that would be paranoid.
If animals acted like that, we’d never be able to domesticate or tame them. I *could* kill or maim my cockatiel. She has hollow bones, is much smaller and weaker, and can’t hurt me in any significant way, regardless of how much she’d fight back. But I love her, and would never do such a thing. Being physically able to do something has no bearing on whether you’d actually do it.

We live in an era in which women are no longer responsible for their behavior. The beatings, er, rationalizations (per Oprah) will continue until morale improves.
I asked a recent acquaintance if her erratic behavior was because she was still married, a small fact she didn’t mention. This is a college professor, mind you. Response: “I find that threatening and disrespectful.”
Friday night I was drinking with my “Hughes Aircraft” buddy in his lounge and five college girls showed up, clearly on a “We’re wild and we’re going to prove it!” mission. So I departed with them and we visited a few places and shot pool and things developed from there. The next day, my correspondent (yup, she’ll be an elementary school teacher in six months) texted, “I can’t believe I made so many bad choices last night. I don’t think we should come over for dinner Wednesday.” (We had agreed I would cook for the crew on Wednesday.) Another of her roommates is a barmaid where I watched the game this afternoon. Free beers.
I’m old enough to remember Roseanne Roseannadanna (Gilda Something, Saturday Night Live). “If it’s not one thing, it’s another!”

Diversity reeducation,
Members of the University of Oklahoma’s College Republicans are taking on the five-hour “diversity” course requirement that came about after the infamous Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity “racist chant” scandal.
Students have to fulfill the requirement by the end of their first year or “risk holds on future enrollment.”
The Republicans’ Kylee Williamson said one thing that should warrant an exemption from the course is a religious objection.
“Whenever you have certain (religious) backgrounds, you should be able to get exempt from it because of some of the things that I’ve been told that they teach,” she said. “Whenever I have members coming up to me, telling me this made them uncomfortable, then I feel like it’s something we need to speak out against.”
But member Kyle Meyer notes what is typically heard about such imperatives — that the course is more about a “politically correct learning process” rather than actual diversity.

Free Stacy,
Damn right. Anita Sarkeesian is a selfish liar who falsely accuses her critics of wanting to “silence” her and other feminists:
What happened to me, and sadly other women as well, can best be described as a cyber mob.
And whether it’s a cyber mob or just a handful of hateful comments, the end result is maintaining and reinforcing and normalizing a culture of sexism — where men who harass are supported by their peers and rewarded for their sexist attitudes and behaviors and where women are silenced, marginalized and excluded from full participation.
Well, who is silencing whom, Ms. Sarkeesian? Who is being “excluded”? Not you, but rather your critics, who are never permitted to reply directly to your dishonest accusations about a “culture of sexism.”
Anita Sarkeesian has never engaged in a dialogue with anyone who disagrees with her dangerous ideology, and why? Because feminism is always a lecture, never a debate. Radical feminists like Anita Sarkeesian crave absolute power, including the power to silence others.
As I wrote in an email to my buddy Bert the Samoan Lawyer yesterday:
Remember: Feminism Is a Totalitarian Movement to Destroy Civilization as We Know It. And also elect Hillary Clinton, but I repeat myself.
What does anyone need to fear from me? Only the possibility that I might state some facts they do not want others to know.

A burka-clad babysitter has been arrested in Moscow after she walked through the streets carrying the severed head of a four-year-old girl, Daily Mail reports. Eyewitnesses say the woman shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as she appeared near Oktyabrskoye Pole metro station in the northwest of the Russian capital and threatened to blow herself up.
Earlier today there were reports that officers had found the headless body of a child aged about four at a block of flats in the city after they were called to a fire. The victim was a girl identified as Nastya M – and the child’s 39-year-old nanny Gyulchehra Bobokulova, from Uzbekistan, has been arrested. The woman was seen pulling the severed head out of a bag and walking around near the entrance to the metro station as police moved in.
Naturally, the police are stumped as to a possible motive

But where does the anger towards an entire sex come from in the first place?
Oprah was once an abused teen mother. The baby died.
Who decided to become a teen mom they did?
Yeah, I’ve read that she came from a very bad home, was raped (potentially by a family member), and had a miscarriage/crib death. Not a good life start, absolutely nobody can deny that. Sometimes decisions are made without that person’s consent. 😦
But at the same time…It’s justifiable and righteous to be angry and disgusted with those who harmed you. It is *not* when you’re angry at their entire sex. Nobody can control what sex or skin color or gender or ethnicity or class they are born into.

I agree, but I don’t think Ton was actually calling us retarded, Fuzzie. He just has a harsher, more black and white view of the world than we do. I mean, I didn’t get offended with his “women’s souls are from hell” comment…because I know that doesn’t pertain to me. In many ways, lol.

Corrupted, yes. Bought out, probably not. FRom what I have heard, the migrants won’t be able to contribute socilly for quite a while. That leads me to conclude that no one will benefit from their presense. That takes away any commercial incentive. Therefore, no bribes.
The only people who may want them are political parties who promote a welfare state.
I am having trouble loading links to Breitbart. What was the judges’s excuse?
John Locke said that government needs the will of the people. Here he is being proven correct.

I’ve not worked out which comment started the discussion, but my instinct is close to Ton’s. All of us speak of our experiences, mine aren’t the same as anyone else’s here. Neither are Ton’s. If you find my opinions unhelpful…ignore them. I don’t need everyone to agree with me on anything. I understand people expressing strongly held opinions on important subjects strongly, that’s what Ton appears to me to be doing. Just my opinion. I agree with Yoda that some of the apparent lack of his patience is misplaced; we are addressing lurkers for whom this stuff might be new, as well as the gang. Occasionally some lurker chips in, which is good…(hint)
Things seem to be rubbing along pretty well, mostly due to a little tolerance on all sides. Thanks for that, all of you.

Frau Merkel,
While Germany was publicly fuming about the revelation in 2013 that the NSA was listening in on Angela Merkel’s cell phone conversations, it was secretly tapping those of top-level U.S. and U.K. diplomats. The Sunday Times (of London) reports:
The Bundesnachrichten- dienst, or BND, Germany’s equivalent of MI6, placed Baroness Ashton of Upholland under electronic surveillance when she was the EU’s high representative on foreign affairs and security.
It also tried to tap the mobile and office phones of John Kerry, the secretary of state, according to Der Spiegel magazine.
However, the attempt to listen in to Kerry’s mobile conversations failed because a bungling spy used an African country code by mistake. His other phones, including one at the American State Department, were successfully tapped.
At the time of the 2013 NSA scandal, Merkel was adamant that “spying on friends is not acceptable” and was said to be “livid.” Her spokesman pulled no punches:
Merkel’s spokesman, Steffen Seibert, made plain that Merkel upbraided Obama unusually sharply and also voiced exasperation at the slowness of the Americans to respond to detailed questions on the NSA scandal since the Snowden revelations first appeared in the Guardian in June.
Merkel told Obama that “she unmistakably disapproves of and views as completely unacceptable such practices, if the indications are authenticated,” Seifert said. “This would be a serious breach of confidence. Such practices have to be halted immediately.”

Call it the period paradox. Everyone knows most girls and women menstruate, but even in the age of oversharing, periods are treated like a dirty little secret.
Now a growing number of advocates, entrepreneurs and female lawmakers are challenging the taboo, talking about menstruation publicly (and, yes, in mixed company). They want periods put squarely on the public agenda, and are demanding that businesses and government take menstruation into consideration when they design facilities, develop budgets, supply schools or create anti-poverty programs. And they want tampons in every public restroom. And they want them to be free.

Wha…? 😕
Free. I see.
So, we’re going to go ahead and take even more personal responsibility away from women, except this time it’s personal hygiene. Is it really, truly that difficult to remember “Hey, this cyclic, biologically necessary thing is going to happen to me sometime this week. I think I’ll keep an extra pad or tampon in my purse/pocket/glove box just in case!”? No, instead let’s leave free supplies out so they can get stolen all at once by some selfish idiot.
Seriously. They are doing an excellent job of attempting to prove Ton right re: women have no accountability.

I find it hilarious that the concept of “free bleeding” was initially a total troll-a-thon thread created by 4chan…and only afterwards did Fems make it real. It is to laugh.
Seriously though…it’s blood. I can understand wanting to make it slightly less taboo to talk about from a “this is natural and good, not a horrible, disgusting disease you should be ashamed of” viewpoint, but again it’s blood. I don’t want anyone’s blood just left around everywhere, whether it comes from a nosebleed, a headwound, or a period. It is a biohazard regardless.

I came across a quote from Madeleine L’Engle that I repeat to myself anytime the RP/AWALT stuff starts to get under my skin. Maybe it can help you too?
Because you’re not what I would have you be, I blind myself to who, in truth, you are.
It makes things easier to keep as generalizations and not let them get personal. Just remember that everyone is an individual, and that while advice can work very well for the public at large, it may not be what is true in your daily life.
Don’t get frazzled, sweet bear. I can tell you honestly, from experience, it’s not worth it. 👎

Trump is the enemy of the emergent clerisy (the in-breeding educational, financial, political and media elite). Which as Yoda notes, renders his bluster and vulgarities — directed at said clerisy — a feature, not a bug. The GOPe STILL has not figured this out.
I think that the only thing that takes him out is some truly horrendous dirt that emerges from his business past. With people operating commercially at that scale, there’s always, in the words of Robert Penn Warren, something. But it would have to be something horrific, on the order of he knows where Jimmy Hoffa is buried. When the inevitable “but he shaved on his taxes!” complaints are dumped across the front page of the NY Times, his supporters will cheer. They’re sick of doing all the work and paying all the taxes. Trump is a human IED, cheered for promising to do to WashDC, NYC, and LA what the Romans did to Carthage.
He won’t, of course, because he’s a progressive and a pragmatic democrat, liberal in nature. But no one cares, if they’re voting for him, because they see him as defending traditional American culture from the depredations of government and self-styled, “highly-educated” social and intellectual betters.
I liken him in many ways to William Randolph Hearst (cf. Citizen Kane), Huey Long; more charitably, Andrew Jackson. Jacksonian populism is clearly back.

HIllary is the nominee unless Obama and AG Lynch, effectively, prosecute a coup against American law, the Constitution, and the People.
Her “troubles” are vastly more obvious and criminal than is reported. Each single incidence of illegally transferred confidential, secret, top secret, and worse information is a felony carrying a max sentence of 10 years. She has at least 2000 such offenses already in the public record. Her latest word salads about not *knowing* she was reading classified information that she illegally transferred to a homebrew server is legal nonsense: the law doesn’t require one to witness a classification on a communication; one is *required* to know, and responsible to know, that such info is restricted. The most successful American general since Abrams nearly went to jail for giving his personal, daily notebooks to his sidepiece. Hillary has thousands of exposures, orders of magnitude more serious, to answer for.
Then there is the ongoing public corruption probe. The governor of Virginia went to jail for vaguely trading some public favors for credit card relief and a few rolexes. The Clintons traded access to USG policy for hundreds of millions of dollars.
If one of us so much as took an unapproved smartphone through the front door of the NSA we would be tackled and in irons before we hit the curb.
If Obama and Lynch choose not to take this case to a grand jury — which will immediately indict her — there will be wholesale revolt across the USG intelligence, defense and national security community. And most of them identify as Democrats. All of these people know that if they did — once — what she did systematically for years, tens of thousands of times, they would lose their jobs, homes, reputations, bank accounts, and likely families. But that’s all Hillary’s got: a potential political solution. It could turn our cold civil war into a hot one.
The FBI director used to work for people I know well. Famously, he stood up to GW Bush when John Ashcroft was near death and in the hospital, and one of his minions attempted to bend the constitution by coercing that dying man (he was AG at the time). Comey isn’t going to lay down if this case is somehow dismissed as inside politics. He’ll quit. Hundreds of sub rosa officials will flood the media — which cannot control the message any more — with the reality of the situation.

Minus the specifics that you give, your last two comments describe the situation pretty much as I see it. Thank you. It’s very hard to tell from abroad when one is reading outright propaganda from one side or the other.
I honestly can’t see
a) why Hillary isn’t already in gaol. She clearly broke laws that do not require intent to break the law to be guilty of infraction. There is no legal defence for some actions that she has already been proved to have taken.
b) why the establishment doesn’t understand why people don;t really care about Trump’s past dealings (alleged and real). They’re quite often voting for what he isn’t. He isn’t a bought and sold political puppet of the establishment. And that’s sufficient for many people, it seems.
Perhaps Shrillary and Merkin can share a cell, I’m sure they’d find much to occupy their time.
I really hope that Prez Trump, when the man behind the curtain emerges, is a competent and honest dealing man who can use his mandate to reform the polkitical system in the US. I wish there was an English guy in a postion to do the same. Our establishment is riddled by europhiles and common purpose scum. If the EU was competent and honest that would be an issue, as the EU is not, it’s a catastrophe.

I do wonder how they could possibly justify prosecuting people on these grounds ever again if they don’t prosecute Hillary.
