Stop Feeding the Beast

Over at Dalrock’s, Commenter Micha Elyi states,

Being a “genetic celebrity” is what Dr. Warren Farrell calls this in his book Why Men Are the Way They Are. The large majority of females do enjoy a period of celebrity-like treatment from many, if not most, of the people around them. They don’t do anything of their own volition to earn it, they just look young and pretty and female. It’s genetic. The counterpart young man experiences nothing like this, any attention he gets he must earn. He’s a genetic groupie.

Genetic celebrityhood explains a lot about female behavior; a few examples: how common magical thinking is among females, the Princess Attitude of entitlement, the female expectation that she’ll be rescued when she’s in a jam, and how angry so many females are when their genetic celebrityhood passes (just look around you and see how upset females are when they discover they’ve aged into being “sexually invisible” as the expression goes–“Welcome to my world, Buttercup” is the response every man could give her).

Genetic celebrityhood, I believe, explains the female fascination with royalty of almost every kind, from Princess Di to Disney Princesses. Other expressions of the “I’m really a Princess!” internal urge so common to females is the Secret Identity (e.g., Hannah Montana, Part-Time Pop Star!; Sabrina the Teen-age Witch; Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries) and especially common, the Secret Special Power (e.g., Buffy the Vampire Slayer and now Rey of the Disney Star Wars).

In our modern age most women think of themselves as deserving of attention and success in life just based on growing up into a woman…

I think this is not new, I believe it has always been the case. However, our modern mass media has found pandering to this female weakness very profitable because females make up the largest portion of the TV audience, so the mass media through popular entertainment is feeding this female tendency and virtually all females are responding. It’s grown pathological.

Yes, this does summarize the situation; and rather well at that.  First, let us consider where this untrammeled behavior will lead.  Short answer — off of a cliff.  Longer answer — Here is a list

  1.  Unmotivated men
  2. Suicidal Men
  3. Lonely Women
  4. Poor environments for children to grow up in
  5. Shallow women
  6. Entitled bitchy women
  7. Your ideas here

Well, to be honest, I did not see too much that is good up there.    The “whys” of this list are left to another post.  Yet, all that it takes is a little imagination to see how all of these bad outcomes (and more) can result; and if you can’t, please let us know in the comments; somebody will help you out.

But let us consider what was done in times past in an attempt to stop these afflictions from occurring.  From growing up watching the last vestiges of these attempts, I believe I know the basic principles.  It was a two pronged effort, centered on humility and service.

First humility.  My sisters were taught to be humble in the face of the Lord. It starts with the fact that most people are not as awesome as they think that they are (ego protection and all that), and that goes double for young ladies.  A dose of humility can do good for most everybody; it can keep you from making bad decisions, wasting time on ego building activities, etc.  What is not to like?  Some much so in fact, that I will soon write a post about this subject only.

But apparently the modern world believes that there is much to dislike.  Modern children (especially girls) are marinated in self-esteem.  This is probably the worst thing that one could do; for it cheapens real accomplishments (mainly a boys perspective).  And with respect to girls, it squashes any attempts to instill humility.

Now let us consider service.  That is, service to the family, service to the community, etc.  This was used to “ground” women in reality, to not allow them raise themselves up too high.  For to serve someone, is to be connected to them (not necessarily below them, and not necessarily above them).  A Medical Doctor serves his patient, a garage collector serves the resident; prestige does not matter so much in service.  Furthermore, service gave girls/women useful things to do so that they would not have time for ego elevation.  The evil Patriarchy was kind of good about that.

The European Union (EU) should “do its best to undermine” the “homogeneity” of its member states. That is the considered view of UN special representative, Peter Sutherland, who will be a star turn at an international migration conference in Istanbul, Turkey next month.

Mr Sutherland is non-executive chairman of Goldman Sachs International and a former chairman of oil giant BP. He will represent UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon at the 8th meeting of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) which brings together representatives of 160 nations to share policy ideas.

In reading the post, I couldn’t help but think about how smaller families have done much to pump up the ego of many young women. They have fewer, if not any, siblings to share attention with and have that much more parental investment.
I don’t have any answers to how to make the modern princess a better citizen. Life makes people humble and the greater the height, the harder the fall.
The one thing that I can see happening is the erosion of women as consumers. Without husbands, they can only spend their own money.

When I first sae the title of this post, I thought it said, “Stop Feeding the Bears”. There is a parallel. Just as bears who are fed by tourists feel entitled to be fed when they see humans, so do little princesses deserve goodies when they see men.
Cill had a shocking statistic for how much women spend against what they earn worldwide.

    Tangent thought:
    Is birth order a factor?
It is well known that most oldest siblings have to work harder, have more responsibilities and pressures put on them by parents, and don’t get away with a quarter of the crap a younger sibling can…Especially if there is a “baby” of the family. Being the oldest myself, I am constantly shocked with the shite my brother and sisters get away or have done for them.

  30. Yoda says:

Kangaroo courts on his mind they are,

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., has written a letter to the secretary of the Education Department decrying the department’s federal overreach when it comes to bullying, harassment and sexual violence.

Lankford, who chairs the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, has taken specific issue with the Education Department’s rules regarding how schools adjudicate these issues. The department has issued multiple “Dear Colleague” letters imposing new rules, and with that, costs, on schools across the country without congressional approval or even a comment period.

The letters are subject to the Administrative Procedure Act, Lankford explains, because they amount to “substantive and binding regulatory policies that are effectively regulations.” Lankford asks for a “thorough justification of the letters by providing the precise statutory and/or regulatory authority under Title IX for each policy that the letters purport to interpret.”

Previously, the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights has cited Title IX as justification for forcing schools to adjudicate felonies such as sexual assault. Yet that is a very stretched interpretation of Title IX, which bans discrimination on the basis of sex. OCR has determined on its own that sexual harassment and sexual assault (even between same-sex partners) is a form of discrimination and therefore is covered under Title IX.

Even with that interpretation, nothing suggests that schools must set up kangaroo court systems to adjudicate accusations — that was yet another “interpretation” from OCR.

Twitter is in crisis. Just as the value of its stock has dipped to an all-time low, it has picked a fight with conservative and libertarian users on its own platform. This marks a low point for a social media company that has spent the last year alienating its own users.

Twitter’s latest catastrophe was sparked by the unverification of Breitbart Tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos, for an alleged rule violation that the company refused to divulge. It sparked a massive backlash from Yiannopoulos’ devoted followers, some of whom have begun emailing Twitter’s investors and advertisers.

Desire to cover up runs deep it does,

STOCKHOLM The Cologne sex assault on New Year’s Eve, where groups of Arab and North African men groped more than a hundred German women, has shocked Europe this last week. But a very similar incident, with a large number of perpetrators and victims, took place in the Swedish capital last summer. That incident however was silenced by large Swedish newspapers and media companies, despite repeated attempts from police officers to contact journalists. This is how leading Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter tried to cover up a politically inconvenient sex assault story.

Nyheter Idag is now able to disclose in detail how major Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter deliberately covered up stories about widespread sexual abuse in central Stockholm in connection with a concert in the Kungsträdgården public square this August. “The mere suspicion that the abuse has been considered as difficult to describe involves a betrayal of the victims”,the newspaper writes about the event, almost six months later.

On Saturday August 15th, the nationally acclaimed and outspoken feminist artist Zara Larsson headlined the youth festival ‘We Are Sthlm” with a crowded concert in Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm. Thousands of young people were in attendance to take part in the event during the last summer nights of the year.

But for an unknown number of young girls the festival soon became a nightmare. Hordes of young men pressed against young girls, fondled and tried to cop a feel over and under skirts, pants and shirts. There were severe sexual assaults happening right in front of the stage, where artists such as Larsson and rapper OIAM performed.

About 30 minutes into the meeting, which was rebroadcast Thursday night, LePage responded to a question about how he was tackling substance abuse in Maine. He began talking about how much of the heroin is coming into Maine from out-of-state drug dealers.

“These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty – these types of guys – they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home,” LePage told a large crowd. “Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road.”
