Marriage Material Ever?

On my last post, we met a gaggle of high school girls at a rural McDonalds.  One of their common views was that the force of the state should enforce their desires (or non-desires).  But there is more.  I am not sure if these girls are suitable poster children for high school girls today, but here goes.

First of all, they were fat.  When I was in high school, almost nobody, guy or gal, was fat.  For a girl to be fat was akin to a death sentence.  So few girls were.  They also had dirty mouths, with swear words every two or three sentences.  And they were apparently addicted to drama.  Drama on steroids.  They went on and on about their friends and enemies and Facebook and Snapchat and who wouldn’t be their friend because somebody else was their friend and so on.  Of course, girls from time immemorial have been prone to these problems; but in my older sisters time, measures were taken to suppress them at least a small amount.  Apparently there is no longer any attempt at suppression; in fact they are provided the tools to put it all into overdrive.

This leads to the question, will these girls ever in their lifetime be suitable for marriage.  Will they ever provide a man with anything of value more than sex?  Will they be suitable mothers to raise their family?  Or will these years have ruined them forever?

    Suitable? Likely not.
    Married anyway? Likely yes.

Will they ever provide a man with anything of value more than sex?
Maybe, but they’d have to truly work at disengaging from the herd mentality and learn to not be misandric or whiny.

Will they be suitable mothers to raise their family?
Highly debatable. I was more of a parent to my siblings at age 14 than these girls will be at age 20. Again, it is possible they will suddenly “grow up” and leave behind their juvenile thoughts/actions after or during college…but there’d need to be a motivation for doing so.

Or will these years have ruined them forever?
Depends on what they consciously decide to do with their lives. If they do not reevaluate themselves or engage in introspection, it will not go well for them.

In the circles I run in (nerds, geeks, gamers, etc) there tends to not be many average body types. Quite often the options are “incredibly skinny” or “noticeably overweight”. It appears that more men tend to be on the fat side and more women tend to be on the skinny side, though there are definitely exceptions to this rule. I’m probably the closest to average you’d find, being a size 7 (which I think is a 10 in the UK?). In high school, I don’t recall seeing too many honestly fat people in the general high school population…some larger types, certainly, but size 12+? Not so much.

The Swedish government has been reduced to pleading with economic migrants and refugees moving north through Europe to stop coming, as their social services grow so overwhelmed.

Amid the busiest week ever for asylum applications in Sweden, the government has all but capitulated, doing everything it can to stave off the asylum crisis they created short of actually taking action to stop it.

While the Swedish government steadfastly refuses to close the borders, change migration rules, or slash the lavish benefits paid to migrants, ministers have not been shy to call on their neighbours for help and even the migrants themselves to take pity.

Here’s what Mr Cameron claims to want, for Britain:

    • Protect Britain’s access to the Single Market – a given that wouldn’t need negotiation if we stayed in
    • Cut red tape and ensure ‘competitiveness is written into Europe’s DNA’ – meaningless waffle
    • End abuse of ‘freedom of movement’ by EU migrants – what “abuse”? It’s in the EU treaties!
    • Exempt Britain from ‘ever-closer union’ – Again, core part of the EU, which won’t be changed

Readers will know most of these don’t actually mean anything. His brief elaborations at Chatham House this morning were also deviously vague.

But this isn’t David Cameron being naive, or stupid, or untalented.

This is David Cameron being duplicitous, being conniving, and being a European before being a Briton.

This should be a warning to other University employees,

A spokesman for Hocking College has been fired for telling media outlets that a reported rape did not actually occur.

Investigations from the Athens County prosecutor’s office as well as the school’s Title IX office both determined that the alleged rape did not occur.

A female student reported to police on Sept. 1 that she had been gang-raped by several male students several days earlier, on Aug. 27. She claimed she had gone to a party and consumed a lot of alcohol. She said she didn’t remember returning to her dorm, but somehow she did and couldn’t find her keys, so she asked several other students to help her get into the building.

She then said she woke up hours later, naked, with five naked men. The school’s counseling center had referred her to the school’s advocacy center, which referred her to the college police. Now, more than a month later, the prosecutor’s office is concluding its investigation without charging any of the accused men.

“After pursuing all leads and following all investigatory protocols, the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office determined there was no evidence to pursue an indictment in rape allegations against five Hocking College students,” the release states.

The school also closed its own investigation into the claim, even as national attention puts intense pressure on colleges and universities to steamroll ahead with accusations, often without much evidence.

“Investigators at Hocking College did not find enough evidence to support a Title IX violation,” the school’s president said in a statement.

Yet the spokesman, Michael Brown, has been fired.

    Double Standard

Following the second major report this year about the failure of the Missouri football team and the athletic department to properly respond to a series of sexual assault allegations, perhaps someone should ask: Why does Mike Alden, athletic director at Missouri since 1998, still have a job?

The success of the sports program under Alden’s tenure is indisputable and thusly lauded on his Missouri bio page: “Since beginning his 17-year stint in Columbia however, Alden has seen several programs rise to the level of national championship contenders, highlighted by conference championships in football, men’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, baseball and wrestling, including three league titles last season alone.” He has raised a substantial amount of money to renovate the football stadium, which the site assures us “will make the home of Tiger Football one of the finest in America.”

What Alden’s bio fails to mention is he has also overseen a series of failures when it comes to how his department has handled off-field issues with players, specifically from the basketball and football teams when it involves violence against women.

This year, ESPN’s Outside The Lines had two major reports about two different sexual assault allegations. The first, published in January, was about a possible gang rape in February 2010 by football players of a fellow student athlete, Sasha Menu Courey, who later ended up committing suicide. The report alleges that in May 2011, a few months before she died, Menu Courey told an athletic staffer about the assault, but, despite a federal legal obligation under Title IX for that staffer to alert the university, an investigation was never conducted. Chad Moller, the athletic department spokesman, told ESPN, “the university, in declining to launch an investigation, is honoring what it believes were the wishes of Menu Courey, who never reported the incident to police.”

Then, late last month, the second Outside The Lines report drew more scrutiny on the team and the athletic department. Running back Derrick Washington, who left the school in 2010 after he was arrested and charged with sexual assault, had at least two other violent incidents with women before that assault and another before he left the team (he disputes the allegations unearthed by Outside The Lines). In October 2008, a fellow student alleged that Washington assaulted her in her dorm room. She went to campus police, who after an investigation, found probable cause to issue a warrant for his arrest on the charges of forcible rape. The County DA refused that warrant, stating “there are too many inconsistencies in the victim’s story to ensure a reasonable probability that a jury would convict on a charge of forcible rape.” Instead, the DA “contacted the defense attorney and entered into an agreement whereby the defendant [Washington] agrees to have no contact with the victim and complete rape awareness classes within a year.”

    Vague the charges were,

Instead, Tim Wolfe, the president of the University of Missouri system, is out in one of the most parodic PC meltdowns on a college campus to date. The Missouri episode shows how the political climate on campus falls somewhere between a Tom Wolfe novel, a Monty Python skit, and the French Terror. A reasonable person will find it difficult to identify what Tim Wolfe stood accused of. The fact of the matter is that Missouri’s social-justice warriors forced him out simply because they could.

There were a few alleged racial incidents on campus, all involving racial slurs or symbols, including one where a drunken student verbally harassed a group of black students (he has been removed from campus, pending disciplinary procedures). Even if Missouri had a president straight out of an episode of Portlandia — the show lampooning exquisite progressive sensibilities — it would be beyond his power to prevent all rudeness on campus, especially drunken rudeness. Nonetheless, the administration in general and Tim Wolfe in particular were held responsible. The list of supposed offenses was long (and very vague).

The Missouri Student Association complained that there wasn’t enough hand-holding after Michael Brown was shot and killed in Ferguson (when he attacked a police officer, but that’s always left out). “In the following months,” a statement whined, “our students were left stranded, forced to face an increase in tension and inequality with no systemic support.” Once the grievance machinery got going, there was no right way for Tim Wolfe to respond. To read the association’s indictment, you’d think that the University of Missouri exists in a small enclave of Klan-dominated, Reconstruction-era Mississippi: “The academic careers of our students are suffering. The mental health of our campus is under constant attack. Our students are being ignored. We have asked the University to create spaces of healing and it failed to do so.” This is the insatiable voice of children who object at the insufficiency of their coddling. In another outrage, no one powders the bottoms of Mizzou students after they go potty.

    Incentivized by tips it is.

The tip was small. It would have been zero had she also been sharing the adventures of her privates with those of us trying to eat.

Perhaps loudly proclaiming personal information about pap smears and pregnancy tests is their idea of “pleasantries”.

This is what I too am wondering. I always hear about how bad each new generation of boys are, yet my experience with the girls often makes the boys look quite respectable in comparison.

Somethng is wrong at your breakfast restaurant. As Yoda points out, the waitresses have a direct incentive to behave well in the customers’ presence. This isn’t working and they don’t care.

I’m usually not awake for breakfast, so I haven’t dined there in years before today. The entire staff was different than my last visit. I probably won’t be returning for several more years if at all.

    @ Farm Boy

Will they ever provide a man with anything of value more than sex?

What makes you think they are willing to give even that much to any male? Increasingly, what sex women have is strictly for procreational purposes, and ends when that objective is achieved.
