Attack the Messenger – Not the Message

I am sure that most of what is going to be mentioned here is already understood by the majority of readers here.  But it bears mentioning anyway.  It is important to be reminded of periodically of the cheap tactics that the SJWs and Feminists use in their debating techniques.  Perhaps the most prominent is to just skip debating the issue, and call the debating opponent some type of name; be it misogynist, loser, asshole, idiot, etc.  When this type of thing happens, and it happens very often, it should set off alarm bells in people.  But for some odd reason, it does not.  One should naturally wonder, “Why did they not respond to the debater’s point with nothing more than name-calling”?  This is very odd indeed; and speaks poorly of our modern culture.

Of course, we know why they do what they do:  They have no logical answer that is compelling.  And they get away with it.  The media never calls them on this.  The media should be thoroughly embarrassed.  In fact, they do this so regularly, that it has become normalized.  The unwritten implicit assumption being that when somebody is termed a misogynist or the like, the argument is over and the misogynist lost.  How silly is this?

So what to do?  One should pick their battles, and stand up to the like of these.  Demand answers, not name-calling,  There are probably silent people out there who can be persuaded.

When they resort to as hominem attacks, it’s an admission that they have lost because they can’t provide a counterpoint. That mainstream interviewers allow this speaks to their bias in a loud voice.

To be honest, I don’t think that I am ready to debate feminists. They put honest people at a disadvantage.

Often they make excuses like “It is not worth my time” or the like.

Is their time really that valuable?

    Of course not.

They have an agenda driven by feelings and a misplaced sense of moral superiority.

Tonight at the grocery store I saw two “Caitlyns” within ten minutes, and this is a rural small town where being called redneck is taken as a compliment by many! I can only imagine in the city :/

    Harassment,

Normally, an accusation of sexual harassment — especially harassment from a boss to an employee in our nation’s capital — would garner massive news coverage.

That is, unless the accuser is a young man and the accused is female superior.

So far Roll Call is the only major media outlet to report the case, focusing on a male accuser alleging harassment from his female chief of staff. The man, an anonymous user of the Capitol Hill social media app The Cloakroom, identifies himself as a 26-year-old male staffer and claims to have been harassed by his 40-year-old female chief of staff.

“She has slapped my ass, talked about her vibrator, and has asked me sexual questions,” the male user posted on the app. “I have ignored them but I am thinking about going to the member” — i.e., his boss.

The male accuser had shared his story on a day when several other users posted questions asking what to do if they were being sexually harassed. The male accuser was the only one that provided specific details of harassment. There were at least 30 responses in the thread, which were provided to the Washington Examiner by another user of the app. Many suggested the accusers document the harassment and report it to an appropriate ethics committee.

One user warned that if the harassment were reported the accusers would “need to accept that your career on the Hill will be over.” One user said they were also working in a “toxic office.” Another user made a comment suggesting the male accuser should be happy about being hit on by an older woman.

When one has to choose between truth and what makes you feel morally superior, one should choose truth.

Oddly enough this is too often not the case. It speaks poorly of an individual’s character when they go down that path.

There’s a point of spinning one’s wheels for no good reason though. I guess that goes into the “pick one’s battles” concept. I’m a fan of the WC FIelds: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There’s no point in being a damn fool about it”. If someone is immediately rude an disrespectful, what is the point in trying to have a conversation with them?
Let’s change the scene to a differnt sort of polarizing ideology.
Kanye West states to the camera after hurricane Katrina hit, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”. What is the point of trying to refute this, or address it in any way? Okay, Dubya is a politician so I guess that’s his job. But the rest of us? Let’s go through the possibilities.
Should Dubya go on the defensive?
    “Wwww-wait a minute. I care…”
    how about facts?
“Here are the extemporating circumstances (list of facts on the ground)”.
He could do any of these things but it would be pointless.
He could go on the offensive.
“Well, I guess if that’s true then God cares about Black people even less.”
They could bicker for hours, days, years in stalemate polarity and never come to any agreement because at the end of the day, as Swift would say, it is useless to attempt to reason a person out of a thing he was never reasoned into in the first place.

How many stupid people does one elect to argue with and what good does it do anyway? Not a whole heck of a lot, from what I’ve witnessed.

  20. It’s true the chances of changing a fool’s mind are slim, but there may be others listening who can be persuaded. For example my blog had 1400+ visitors in Sept. based on comments you would not guess that. Lots of onlookers, hopefully being persuaded to consider a non mainstream pov.

I have found it can be effective to preempt such people, throw the intolerance card first or some such social chess move to disarm them. Several trolls have left me alone when I embrace them rather than argue.

I would very much like to believe this.
It is what has kept me on online discussion sites for over a decade, but after that much time I’m less convinced than ever that it has any impact. Persuasion seems to be 99 percent hindbrain, almost no forebrain.

They are pulling stuff that wouldn’t have been attempted in the past. What will happen is that these instances won’t be dealt with individually, they will be dealt with collectively. There is a real danger to women of losing the good will of men.

I don’t doubt the veracity of the male staffer’s claim, it’s that pursuing a male grievance against a female is not going to get him much sympathy. Effectively, what the fembots have said is true. Being female, they cannot be sexist.

    Some do. Most don’t.
    Oftentimes it seems all one has to do to be labeled as such is either;
    A. Be a male who disagrees with a woman/a group of women, or
    B. Be a female who disagrees with the majority of other women.
There is little room for “live and let live” nowadays…
