We are continually bombarded with rape culture references. What is rape culture? First, let us consider culture. From wikipedia,
Culture is, in the words of E.B. Tylor, “that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.”
So apparently culture is some that exists (undoubtedly created slowly over generations) and passed down to the next generation. Is anybody familiar with any kind of society of men who have rape included as an integral (or even as a subsidiary) component of their culture?
The college campus is apparently the place where this rape culture is at its worst. Yet women eagerly flock to these same campuses. In the U.S. two thirds of university students are women. Perhaps these young women are naive and do not know better one might suggest. But they do have parents, and parents normally are concerned about their children’s welfare, and hopefully parents are a bit wise to the world.
In reality, rape culture is just an attempt to create a club with which to bludgeon men with.
