Wisdom of the Ages

My good buddy Yoda has graciously sent this from Degoba.

Talk about wisdom I will.  Where it does come from.  How it is lost.

Culture comes from a vacuum not.  Rules are built up over time they are.  Trial and error the mechanism would be.  Thousands of years of wisdom contained in a culture there may be.  Foolish it would be not to consider this not.

Yet moderns do consider it not.  To their own regret this will be.  Throw away the wisdom of the ages they do.  Like the young Skywalkers the moderns are.  Impatient, full of confidence they would be.  Act upon their impulses the moderns did. The results mostly poor they are.

Jedi training wisdom it contains.  Taught to the young we did.  Character it did developed. For thousands of generations Jedi’s guard the republic they did.  And wisdom of the ages key it was.

Moderns are disciplined not.  Bumble through life they do.  Use the example of the Jedis they should.  Learn from the past they should before too late it would be.

Your first post, much honor it brings.
Mrs. Yoda’s favorite composer, may I present?

Curious this. All musicians, humans they are.

  3. Farm Boy says:

Yoda is over 900 of your years old. He has seen much. He has worked to develop his wisdom. That is what Jedis do. It would be difficult to believe that 18-30 year olds can make better decisions that he. But they will not listen.

  4. FuzzieWuzzie says:

Something for Luke, appropiate this is.

Clapping for music or for me you are?

Fuzzy and Yoda, I have to agree with my wee cuzzie here.

“Something for Luke, appropiate this is” (It was Fuzzy who said that, people!)

Fair go, you two, I might well sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the performance.

    Clapping is for you. 😛

  11. FuzzieWuzzie says:

    And now… for Yoda,

  12. Cill says:

“Makes people talk like I do”
OMG not me too I hope… The insistence of a verb at the end of the sentence is a suffocating stricture and an impediment to all but the most curt of discourse.

Hey Yoda, you and your wing man Fuzzy have excelled yourselves here. Strike a light, Fuzzy, are you a bear or one of them “human” yet “other” critters of the Yoda variety??

  14. Padawan says:

    Yoda’s Release (by Padawan, Poet Laureate 2014 – ?)

When Fuzzy and Yoda went head to head
With a verb at the end of each sentence said
‘Twas hard to tell which was bear or verde
Each the same in my ear was heard.

Just as long as you know, and I’m sure Tarn would agree, I wouldn’t wish the clap on my worst enemy.

Once again, my browser won’t read emoticons. Added to that, I can’t own all the emoticons. As Snidely Whiplash would say,

Good night. By the time that you read this, I’ll be two round ears on my pillow.

  32. Cill says:

Great Scott, Yoda, you covered a lot of ground in this post! The self-appointed Laureate himself (your erstwhile disciple Padawan) is grudgingly impressed.

Zinging from your greatness, I’m off for a swim in the sea.

Fuzzie I want you to be okay. Each day tell me you’re okay. 🙂

    You I do thank.
Fight the dark side I desire.

  37. Yoda says:

All young generations arrogant they are.
Contained in the past eras it was.

Present elders do their duty not.
Youngster’s arrogance turned to overdrive it is.
    End well this will not.

  38. Tarnished says:

Well, that’s the issue, isn’t it? The only one who can self-discipline is that individual, and it usually only happens if there’s motivation to.

Example: Mentally, the idea of eating meat sickens me, but as a human I’m an omnivore (duh) and physically still crave it. It took much self-discipline to eliminate it from my diet, but I’m far happier that I did.

It’s all about motivation. If this isn’t present, most people wouldn’t see a need to self-discipline at all. Probably why we see more hostility, greed, and selfishness nowadays.

  42. Lon Spector says:

It takes all kinds. You should get the book, “The 5 Dharma Types,” by
Simon Chokovsky. He maintains that there are 5 types of people:

    Educators who enlighten others
    Warriors who protect others
Merchants who deal in commerce and set social trends
Laborers who deal with the mechanical side of life
Outsiders who innovate and free others. They can be part of any of the above types.

Each type had it’s own “age.” There was once a “Golden Era” where the majority of
the time was taken up with enlightenment. People worked, at most, four hours a day.
That fell apart, then the Warriors came. Their primary task was to protect Kings and
Laborers were necessasary whatever the age, from lowly porters to engineers.
We presently live in the Merchant age. We see this in free market commerce and
social media trends. Anything that can’t be nailed down is sold, like the image of
the Virgin Mary in a piece of toast.
It’s not realistic to assume people can be taught, what they are incapable of learning.

  43. Yoda says:

It’s all about motivation. If this isn’t present, most people wouldn’t see a need to self-discipline at all.

Motivation from seeing benefits of self-discipline needed it is are.
Takes work to make happen it does.
Oriented to small attention span people not.

    After I’m cured

  48. Yoda says:

Only a cure from your perspective it is.
    From mine it is not.

  49. Farm Boy says:

    So are you cured yet?

  50. molly says:

    “So are you cured yet?”

  51. Lon Spector says:

The only hope is to elevate your comprehensive level.
“Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added on.”

  52. Farm Boy says:

It would seem that Tarn now owes a post
